David, it's not weird to make the bed. Both my wife and I are bed makers on our cruise ships and in every hotel room. She's more diligent about it than I am, but it DOES help the staff and it makes the bedroom look cleaner. Our moms were both adamant about the rules to be morning bed makers.

I not only make my bed when I’m on holiday I also tidy the bathroom used towels that I want washed folded in bottom of shower, everything wiped down (I take flash wipes), clothes all hung up. I bumped into housekeeping in Mandalay bay where I was staying day before I left and we had a wee blether they had rightly assumed I worked with the public they thought I was service industry but I’m retail and we had a good laugh because they knew from standard of room I wasn’t a drinker either. Gifts and big tip left when I left I just can’t leave a mess behind me and I thought it was hilarious they had been working out who was in the room based on what the room looked like.

Thanks for sharing, love the look of Viking and love to try them. But it sounds to good to be true and it is. If i look at the Viking site i can not book the xruise for that money, so why then? Its much more expensive the Msc for me, so seems you guys get discounts. Otherwise i would be able to book it for the same money, but i cant. Love you guys, but keep it realistic.

Bert that is realistic, there are cruises available next week and next month for a similar price of MSC in the UK. We do not get any discount, you saw the receipts…we also made it clear we did grab a bargain. Viking is a luxury cruise line in a different category to MSC.

Well i can show you the rates, the absolute cheapest cruise on Viking now is 2000$ per person, in europe, so thats 4000$ for two. And its the cheapest room, not the one you had. So for 2800$ i can not book, so explain that then? The problem is that you can make an enquiry, get a quote and then the fame kicks in. You guys get a discount as you are famous and i dont. Simple as that, i dont mind but just want to be realistic. Again you dont agree, thats ok, but the cheepest i can book is 4K and most are even 6K at least for 2 people. If you dont believe me i will send the link to the site of viking. Thats what I have to pay, and thats much, much more expensive then Msc. So for me thats the reality. Id love to hear other people that can find the cheaper ones as they are not on the site.

We were on the Venus in May and paid more and friends who sailed with us paid to do the same cruise again but at the discounted price. This cruise was on the Viking website but only for about 10 days before embarkation day.

Wow! What a difference between MSC and Viking! To be fair, it's early days for the bigger ships, with 1000+ passengers. But I would be in heaven with that bed and the entire ship looks so lovely! I love the fact that you were able to get off and get an introduction to the city (even if you couldn't get off the bus...these are different times). I think your comment about coming back for a planned visit and having a better idea of what you'd like to explore further is a great description of cruising in general. You are on vacation, even on your way to a vacation destination. And while you most often only have a few hours at any given port, it's a great way to decide if you would come back fo a longer visit. Enjoy gentlemen...not that it seems you need any nudging in that direction!
