David, it's not weird to make the bed. Both my wife and I are bed makers on our cruise ships and in every hotel room. She's more diligent about it than I am, but it DOES help the staff and it makes the bedroom look cleaner. Our moms were both adamant about the rules to be morning bed makers.

Wow! What a difference between MSC and Viking! To be fair, it's early days for the bigger ships, with 1000+ passengers. But I would be in heaven with that bed and the entire ship looks so lovely! I love the fact that you were able to get off and get an introduction to the city (even if you couldn't get off the bus...these are different times). I think your comment about coming back for a planned visit and having a better idea of what you'd like to explore further is a great description of cruising in general. You are on vacation, even on your way to a vacation destination. And while you most often only have a few hours at any given port, it's a great way to decide if you would come back fo a longer visit. Enjoy gentlemen...not that it seems you need any nudging in that direction!

For me, the secret to making a delicious Cucumber Sandwich is cutting the cucumber PAPER THIN! With paper thin cutting, they are totally delicious. I have always said that I would rather stay home than go on a cruise and your MSC video led me to believe that I was right. In contract, this video has convinced me in the opposite direction and I am beginning to think that I might actually enjoy myself if I go on one. Those scones! Liverpool is a magnificent city. I am so glad that I went there when I was in the UK years ago. I recommend the crypt of the RC Cathedral. It was built for the previously planned cathedral, designed by Lutyens. It is wonderful, a really wonderful and atmospheric building. Highly recommended. Thank you for the video! Hoping all is good for both of you! You really are successfully converting me!

We were told by stewards on two different lines that they can be in trouble if the beds are not up to standard. So we don't make beds but always tidy up

My wife and I have been on two Viking cruises. Loved them both. We both enjoy a drink but found we didn’t need the drinks package. Viking was so generous with their drinks at lunch and dinner we couldn’t imagine needing any more. All this to say, Viking was even a better deal over MSC in our opinion. Viking Ocean is our favorite cruise line by far and we were supposed to be on the Venus in July in the Baltic until it was cancelled to give you this wonderful cruise. Very glad you are able to do this. I nevre had a bad moment or bad meal with Viking in four cruises, you will be amazed with the food and the aftrenoon tea.

I totally agree with you about the food on MSC. We did their maiden voyage from Southampton on the Belissima. Never again! I actually lost weight, worst food I’ve ever had on a cruise ship, it was just canteen food.
