Lovely video, as always. Seeing the dolly varden took me back to my youngster days, fishing for kokanee salmon on Kootenay Lake back in the 70s and my uncle catching dollies once in awhile when he took us out trolling. Always grateful that we relocated there from the Vancouver area and that I got to grow up in such a scenic area.

Very nice job on this video! It’s not as easy as it looks to capture the essence of a small town, but you did it very well here. The photography was beautiful. Your meals are looking like they just arrived from a 5 star restaurant’s kitchen. Good job.

👍Loving your videos through northwest passage. Amazing landscape. Great photography. What a gorgeous part of the US and to boot, a little Norway in the US. How great is that. Great shot of the beautiful swimming moose. You two fix the most scrumptious meals on board. Bon appetit. Thanks for sharing.

Back in the day, I sailed the B.C. portion of the inside passage as part of a high latitude singlehanded circumnavigation. Later I kayaked two different routes paddling from Seattle to Skagway. The second trip was 14 weeks and I made side trips up 3 fjords to tidewater glaciers and then to Glacier Bay N.P. before heading to Skagway for the ferry ride back to Bellingham. The primitive camping and wildlife is just spectacular. I highly recommend this paddle.

Allison & James, hi from Calgary, always look forward to enjoying an episode. I applaud you for continuing to include actual sailing components to your content. Didn't know sailing the inside passage was so challenging. There's enough to concentrate on without keeping an eye out for Moose !!! crossing the channel. Make contact with a big Bull weighing 1500 lbs on land and in water and you would come to a full stop and check for damage, Damage to the boat not the Moose. Great catch seeing it, thanks.
@AllisonandJamesSailing
@AllisonandJamesSailing 17 күн бұрын
Hi there! So glad you’re enjoying the sailing content. The inside passage is a different kettle of fish from sailing offshore, protected calm seas but logistically challenging with currents and tides. We’re use to keeping an eye out for logs but a moose was new haha grateful it made it back to shore safely. Thanks for writing, we’ll see you in the next one. Cheers!

Great fun watching your travels through Wrangell Narrows to Petersburg. Your meals always look so amazing. I feel for the moose competing with boat traffic trying to get across during nice weather and friendly tide. Professional guides should be more cautious than the boat you mentioned.

My wife would love to have your grivlax receipe. I couldn't find it listed below. It's been great to follow your progress on your way north to Alaska. We travelled many of the same routes in our North River 31SXL this summer. Many of your videos were very helpful in route and anchorage selection. Thanks!!! Cheers🍺🍺
@AllisonandJamesSailing
@AllisonandJamesSailing 17 күн бұрын
Awh, cool! So glad we could help with your planning! Oops, the gravlax recipe is in the video description now. Here you go!: 1 (2 pound; 900g) skin-on sushi-grade salmon fillet 1 teaspoon coriander seeds & red pepper flakes (or whatever spices you have on hand) 1/4 cup kosher salt (about 4 tablespoons), plus more for washing salmon 1/4 cup sugar (about 4 tablespoons) 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground white pepper or black pepper Fresh dill 1. Toast seeds until fragrant. Transfer to a spice grinder or mortar and pestle and grind finely. 2. In a small bowl, stir together salt, sugar, ground caraway and coriander seeds, and white or black pepper until thoroughly combined. 3. Pat salmon dry with paper towels. Put fish in container with curing mixture (salt, sugar & spices) and herbs. Refrigerate overnight or up to 24 hours. We also give a run down in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnrFlqJja8usmpI (around 17:30 mins) Hope you enjoy!

@@AllisonandJamesSailing Do not under estimate our beautiful cold ocean! Our compressor crapped-out and (at 1500$+) the fridge returned to an icebox. With that we often just throw food overboard... In a strong plastic bag (with a lanyard attached) or some plastic bags into a rugged bucket and let it sink about a foot. Too deep for the birds to shallow for the proposes. If we ever are lucky enough to catch a fish I fillet it and rinse it in ocean water. The water is often colder than our "icebox"! 🙂
