Sailing Nandji - Frothlyfe

Күн бұрын

Cruising really does mean boat work in exotic places, especially for Nandji! www.sailingnan...
This week on Sailing Nandji, we arrive to the island of Belitung, Indonesia with a broken gearbox. After an exhausting passage, we get some rest and realise this island is not a bad place to be stuck! The scenery has been described to that similar of the British Virgin islands, not sure what they look like, but if they look like Belitung then they must be alright! We find the most helpful gentlemen named Harun who runs his own workshop in town. He went out of his way to assist us and get our gearbox fixed. If your ever in Belitung, look him up! Absolute legend!
With Nandji ready to sail once more, we take the time to enjoy the island and go exploring, learning about the fascinating history. We hear about a miniature monkey and decide we need to see that!
We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We have been in Indonesia for a couple of months cruising and are now high tailing to Malaysia for boat work. We departed Australia 18 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades!

This channel so often puts me on the edge of my seat because there's always massive never-ending boat repair drama that takes you down to utter dispair with no hope, but then some how miraculously it all get fixed, and then its a 2 person 10 minute jump up & down celebration hoopla party .. you can't help following to see what the next "cliffhanger" is going to be in the next video. Then there the comic releaf story, always something wicked FUNNY .. like those BIG EYE little monkey with those long finger hands which had me rolling on the floor .. Then there's always the fantastic sex appeal provided by breathtaking bikinis and even though we're totally blown away with watching such a ROCKING BODY, we've also fallen in love with her heart, her devotion, her compassion, and her never-ending hard work and unquestionable support for her man who can find a way to fix anything and sail on to anywhere. The stories you tell each week in your short films are so well written, so entertaining, and so much appreciated. It's no wonder why your channel is liked and followed by so many. Please keep the cliffhangers coming, and the comedic releaf flowing, and of course, please please keep bringing those awesome bikinis and thongs on the most awesome sailing babe on the planet !!! What a great team .. what a great video .. what a great channel .. its one of the best on KZbin !!!

Yosh you are so good with tools and pushing through stripped bolts. You never complain and that’s the sign of a true winner and a great leader! reversing the plates in the gear box should become stand fair. It worked so well. Now (I hope) you have ample time to order a new set and plan on getting them put in. How many hours do you think gear box has worked. The plates being worn already won't give the same amount but a huge cheers to getting your old girl going again.

Just found your channel! Just applying my car knowledge you may want to look into weather or not you have to add a friction additive to the gear box lube, with clutch type limited slip differentials you have to add friction additive to the gear lube or the clutches will slip.

Good job on the Tranny. That is a Hurth trans (now ZF). You have a different model than I do but they all are close to the same internally. I have heard these are 1500 hour transmission. That is after 1500 hours (or 1000 or 1200 depends on who has had better luck) they need to be rebuilt. I have about 450 hours on mine. You can buy a rebuild kit for these that includes the clutch plates, gaskets, shims etc. May be a good idea to invest in one a keep on board since you know it will only go out again in the middle of nowhere and never near a commercial hub. Switching forward for reverse isn't going to work next time.

Joe - It is OK carrying spares to rebuild the gearbox but you do need access to an hydraulic press, if you rebuild it by bashing the bearings back on with a hammer it will not last long.
