Finally the I have the guts to watch. You know if anybody deserves sponsership on boat products it's you two. With all the crazyness your Nandji goes through and you always manage to bandaid the problem and move forward. Plus Nandji is such a strong boat, I'm not sure other boats would have survived what Nandji had been through. Going across the straight in front of those ships was freakin awesome, and you all are just crazy fun. Just a small leak, lmao. : ) peace

Love the channel guys you rock. You really shouldn’t let the prop spin under sail. It’s bad for the transmission and it slows the boat. Even with a non feathering prop. Think about how a helicopter will fly on an unpowered rotor. Stop it and it falls out of the sky. With most marine transmissions just stop the motor and put the box in reverse. Just try to do it at low speed! My Dad sailed on a famous old racing boat where they had an alternator on the shaft and they could disconnect the shaft from the box via a clutch. The box didn’t carry the thrust either way. They had a separate bearing behind the box after the clutch. They could charge underway sailing.

Wow, we regularly sail in and out of Los Angeles, and I thought that was busy! You had a way busier port to sail through there. Some of those 900-foot monsters can cruise at 18 knots - we've seen it. We ALWAYS go astern if there is any question. A friend of ours sailing into a port in Baja and said he say a sailboat wrapped around the bow of one of those cargo ships. Supposedly the crew in the cargo ship had no idea they had hit anything until they got to port.
@FrothLyfeSailingNandji5 жыл бұрын
Yep, never try and race across in front of them! They would have no idea you were there, they wouldnt hear or feel a thing! AIS is probably the best invention ever created for traversing places like this, The ships would even turn to go around our stern! Crazy waters but very accommodating vessels we found!

We didnt stop in Jakata because of Marley, the island of Java is under quarantine meaning no animals to the island and he would have to do quarantine time to enter Singapore. Also Singapore is expensive and both are massive cities! We try to stay clear of cities!
@timschlueter18615 жыл бұрын
@@FrothLyfeSailingNandji quarantine on java? That's a hoot. Must be in place to protect inbound animals! Singapore, expensive? Ya, but thousands live there quite cheaply. @FrothLyfeSailingNandji5 жыл бұрын
@@timschlueter1861 There are three classifications of the state of rabies in Indonesian islands. They are, rabies, rabies free and quarantine. Java and Bali are under quarantine.
