You picked the absolute center of Ontario mosquito country to go into the woods and you were lucky to survive. They don't get really ferocious until around dark.

I grew up in the Kawarthas, I spent so many summer weekends bombing around to friends' cottages on Balsam Lake, Sturgeon Lake and Pigeon Lake. Many an evening spent with kawartha dairy ice cream watching the locks at Fenelon (pronounced FEN-lun, btw). I'm loving this series, thank you.

You guys and your trip is beautiful. I always had a dream to travel the Trent. Now I can watch you doing it. Safe travels!

Wonderful video…such beautiful scenery and cute towns! And, always a big plus to get yummy ice cream! Even Ollie wasn’t ready to leave the one area you were docked at.😅😂 Was the dog swimming in the water from another boat?

It was a pleasure meeting you when you came through Buckhorn and then seeing you again in Midland before you travelled into Georgian Bay. Our little dog Cruzer especially enjoyed meeting Ollie. It is a lot of fun watching you travel through our area. We are going to start the Loop in July so we are definitely looking forward to your future posts to show us what we have to look forward to. Kathie and Dave (and Cruzer).

You all probably learned to proper term for going up in a lock by now, but for those who don't know and are interested in knowing, the term is "lift" or being lifted. I'm almost 64 and I've been going through locks and dams primarily on the Ohio River since I was two years old. If you get a copy of a Quimby's River Guide, that is the term they use. This area is really gorgeous. You guys have shot the best videos of running the Trent Severn of any videos shot by Loopers as they transit this waterway. You actually show the scenery and the towns, not just short clips of getting underway, maybe show footage of one of the locks and then many hours later, they are tied up at that day's destination. You have done an excellent job of doing your videos since you began the trip.

You didn’t stay long in Bobcaygeon… but Ollie met a friend (jumped ship for a second). But great that you finally had kawartha ice cream Off with aloe lotion for mosquitoes… I see you have some big name advertising… good for you two.

Absolutely loving your videos. Especially lately the Trent-Severn Waterways series. Take it from a Canadian friend and fan, you are experiencing so much of the beauty and charm of real Canada, as well as real everyday Canadians. Growing up on a horse ranch in the Northern Ontario wilderness, we had to deal with mosquitos and black flies all the time. We describe northern mosquitos as being "3" long, 2-1/2" of which is teeth !" Lol. The product we always found worked best for us was called Muskol. You may want to give it a try when you are next in the wilderness. Anyway, thank you so much for bringing us along on your travels and adventures. We love all that you do (and consequently help us do vicariously through you). Stay safe, happy and keep living your dreams. P.S. Loved the way you did the video about locking. It was very relaxed, informative and very easy to understand. It really should be a "Must See" for all new cruisers.

Oh My Nauticals! First time commenter, I have been really enjoying your coverage of the Trent-Severn. I have had a long time dream to travel the Trent-Severn, ever since I was a child driving over it at Gamebridge and Burleigh Falls towards the Cottage for the summer, but never to any lake of the Trent-Severn. But your videos have convinced me to take the effort to find a sailboat with a draft shallow enough to travel the system (less then 6'). Did you happen to listen to the song Bobcaygeon by The Tragically Hip while in Bobcaygeon? 🙂 Oh, seeing that you have enjoyed the ice cream and other great foods of the region, have you experienced "Bagged Milk"? Outsiders find this, an odd thing to see. Looking forward to your experiences going down the Mississippi.

Old family videos are great. Fenelon Falls seems a wonderful place to stop with plenty to do and things to do. The creamlooked like it really hit the spot and a good choice of flavors, Enjoy

Fenelon Falls is a gem but all the towns along the route are all great places I love this region of Ontario it has everything you want or need. These towns don't close up in the winter as they get snowmobilers up there as well.

Ohh another one, awesome! The way to think about the Trent Severn canal, is essentially you need to get up over the height that Niagara Falls to get to the pool level of lake Michigan. Erie, and Huron.. I find it makes it easier to visualize

Awesome vid. Happy this showed up in my feed. We have a cottage on Cameron lake for 45 years. 2 things I'd like to correct. 1) it's pronounced more like Fenlin Falls. 2) Kawartha dairy ice cream isn't the best in the area. It's the best on the planet. Keep up the great work.

Maybe y’all can go by Ft Jefferson while you’re in the area? The largest brick and masonry structure in the “western hemisphere” 70 miles from land, no fresh water and allegedly built in the 1850’s I think? What a hilarious narrative right? More bricks than are in the empire state building, no water, no land for brick making, and all for the civil war!!!! Such a dumb story! Star forts are cool though.

Yes, the Canadian Locks have a usage fee, and traditionally the US NYS Canals have a fee but it hasn’t been enforced since covid. All the other locks are free!

Ok so when the line is off land or dock the line is off . When its on the land or dock its on. You keep saying the line is on when you untie and throw it on the boat when the line is actually off lol drives me nuts . Both lines need to be off in order to leave the dock !! Not on !!
