When I was self employed and had a pub/restaurant, I worked over 80 hours a week and didn’t have a day off for 10 years. I don’t recommend it. Now I’m retired life is good and I go Cruising….so I appreciate everyone who works onboard.❤

why do you think that is? Every forum, post, & video makes life on a cruise ship sound dreadful. how old are you?

When you guys work on a cruise. Do you have to take the survival classes for I can't swim but I want to work on a ship. But I keep hearing bad things like you need to take much survival classes, drills every week, cramped up and below the water line cabins, and things like that. I want to work on a cruise but idk which one.

Hi Lucy, thank you for another crappy video! Lol 😂. All the problems with being stuck working on a cruise ship! I honestly don’t know how you guys manage it. On the four recent cruises I have done I have always appreciated the efforts of the crew. It can’t be an easy life. All the best from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺

I love your videos, and thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I always wonder how cruise members manage relationships or start a family in this industry when they are always at sea. Are you able to request to share a cabin with a friend or significant other? Also, how does medical care work onboard for staff, such as dental services or handling medical emergencies? I'm also curious about how staff members get medication or prescriptions while onboard, as well as how packages, like purchases from Amazon, are mailed to the ship.

I can understand having very strict limits on alcohol consumption, as even when off-duty all crew members have to be able to assist in emergency situations.

Lucy, thanks for another nice video...somehow you make even the "hidden rules" sound okay. 😀And hey, following rules is all part of life anyway. Fair winds! (btw, your audio is loud, and while not a big deal it's still almost all in the left channel)

I am a CPA and in Tax Season, in Canada, (March and April), I work 7 days a week, as does my secretary. We work from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, EVERY DAY. We LOVE it. And we make a little money. LOL Then in June, July and August, I live on my boat, and my secretary works 2 half days per week.

One of the captains on the last cruise was really good , during the day at sea as it was raining he put on a Q and A , he also took the time if we wanted a selfie with the captain ,

Thank you for your video. I always wanted to worked on a cruise ship when I retired because I enjoyed cruise. I know it is a big different from being a guest and employee. I still have not pulled the trigger to work yet. I go on 2 or 3 cruises a year.

Why isn't Demin allowed? Does it have to do with if Denim gets wet? 🤷♀️

I as a passenger who's never been crew have noticed some of this. We passengers also have rules, also have a schedule, also notice a lot of lines (queues). I try especially hard not to bother the crew when they're obviously off duty.

We do the same when the crew are obviously off duty , we do the same for reps when they are obviously off duty on non cruises

Hi Lucy, i am happy to see a new upload, as always it is very interesting and knowledgeable. If you don't mind,i want to request a video on baristas - their role and qualifications required to be one. I am currently working on my C1D visa, selected to work on Princess cruises and i really really want to be a barista one day even though i only have service experience. Please please tell us how we can work our way to being a barista, I've already gone through a barista training here. Thanking you in advance and hoping to se more from you.

I wouldnt mind someone that works on the ship to tell me they are off. If I have a question or something I'll ask someone else. There is another employee not to far away and I understand, we all need our time off.

I'm guessing the dairy rule is because most "refridgerators" in rooms are just coolers that keep contents at 41deg.

Hola!! How is the crew's relationship with the security crew? I heard that they don't have much social interaction, is it difficult to make friends with the security personnel? I ask because I am applying for the position and I would like to get along with all the crew.

I was in the casino, working every day is fine. After all, you're still on the ship, apart from the crew bar, whatcha gonna do? On some contracts with bigger casinos, the casino manager managed to give us a day off every month.

What I'm curious about is how much hot water you will have to shower. I'm thinking it is very little and you have to bathe in planned increments so everyone gets hot water.

Bullying from management, sexual harassment, toxic relationships that you can’t get out of. Doesn’t always happen but it’s very common and hr ignores this.

Hi Lucy, I love your videos but I have just one question: I there a reason you are choosing "the floating head" shoot? It's like you have no body 😁. As a broadcaster, and also a person with ADHD, 😅 I find it pretty bothering. The distance between your head and the top of the frame should be like palm(just put your palm horizontally on top of your head, and that is the proper distance). Of course, you can do it however you feel like it. 🤗 all the best.
