A dog's happiness medicine. That's probably the best comment on the internet. I like your program because of the the landscapes and the leisurely lifestyle on the inland waterways are inviting. Cannel life feels absolutely captivating. Maybe it contains the Dog's happiness medicine, who knows. Happy water trails.

Nice video. Yes, Bollington Wharf and the Coal Boat people are very nice. They've been my regualar suppliers since I first started boating. There's a funny photo somewhere on the net where they were going through Royal Oak Swing Bridge (shown in your video) where a motorist raced the barriers coming down and got trapped in the middle on the turntable section. The operator carried on pressing the button and the car with driver spun around with the bridge! :)

About 25 years ago on one of my infrequent returns to the UK for a holiday I was invited by some friends to join them on their hire boat on the Macclesfield canal, joining them at the powered swing bridge (parking the car at the pub across the road) and traveling with them down to the Little Morton Hall and back over three days. That was my only experience on the canals but it left an indelible impression and hence my subscribing to an insane number of boat tuber channels! So this series on the Mac was special for me and I've been waiting a long time for it, as none of the others seem to have traveled this route yet, or maybe I just missed it. And yes, it does bring back memories. Many thanks!

It could be that this was one of the first channels I started following narrowboating, or there is a secret in the combination of calm voice and slow cruising through beautiful country side, but when I see the intro scene and the signature music I get a nostalgic chill. With any luck you'll never tire of cruising, and please keep the intro and outro music!

David, Ive got to say how appreciative i am that you suffer through these painfully beautiful days on the canal system. The hardships you endure for your viewing fans humble me, not to mention the true drudgery of opening those swing bridges! Just to show how nice I am, i'll volunteer to come over and suffer that for you and you can come here and enjoy the -10 nights, ice and snow. I know, yes, that's a sweet deal for you, but I'd be willing to sacrifice that for you...just for a month or so, all i could likely bear to suffer! Sorry, couldn't help that one....another very enjoyable venture, still think UK tourism needs to hire you!

David - Thank you for all the videos. I am always amazed at the amount of engineering and effort which was put in place to make these canals possible. From swinging foot bridges, to car bridges, aqueducts going over/under roads, the signs, the maintenance and all done mostly by volunteers and donations (as well as the licensing fees I'm sure). The fact that all of the canals are man made and just the immense effort which takes all done by a Trust and not a Government Agency. It's truly honestly amazing. It gives me hope for humanity, because it shows how a group of people who have a common goal in mind can achieve incredible things all for the sake of what really amounts to a leisure activity (although after watching your videos it is clear the canal supports and maintains a great deal of businesses throughout the country). Once again Thank you for all of your videos. They are funny, you are a very good narrator and your videos are superbly edited. I wanted to share my experience because I am sure there are plenty of other folks who watch the videos and never provide any feedback letting you know how much we enjoy it.

Great to see my local section of canal from a boat perspective. I only get to see it from the towpath! Those buttresses' at 8:45 were put there about 15 years ago after the retaining wall did collapse into the canal. The closed towpath at 10:22 is because the retaining wall had collapsed on the towpath just after the previous bridge (next to the white cottage at 9:40). Also in late 2020/early 2021, the canal was closed over a small stretch as the canal had breached the foundations of one of the houses where the old crane was in the garden!
