A water vole! More rare than an honest politician and thrice as cuddly. I have fished since i was a boy and work outdoors too giving me the chance to spend many thousands of lunchtimes by the river or pond yet it was the early 80's that i last saw a water vole. You lucky man. That wet lunchtime was serenaded by Goldfinches trying their best to cheer you up.

When I saw the words 'Carry On' on the screen, I was waiting for some channelling of Sid, Barbara or Hattie; I believe that there was one titled 'Carry On Cruising', although I suspect it was about an ocean liner rather than a narrowboat. "He was late because he got stuck in a winding hole, and you know he only had his bottom scraped a few months ago, after that VL grabbed his centre line unexpectedly, while the other one worked the paddle..."

5:54 If I ever bought a narrowboat, that's the kind of boat I'd love to have; a tiny 20-30 ft. springer. It should preferably be closed-off at the front (meaning no entrance) so you can put in a proper full wet bath at the bow, or as "full" as it can get on a small boat like that. Just add in a sofa bed, nice stove, a decent kitchen, and you're living in style!

Thanks again. Cheerio!

Love the videos, but you never show the villages and towns that you visit for supplies, etc. For us non-Brits, it would be great to see these, as some of us haven't ever been to the UK. Taking a canal boat holiday is near the top of my bucket list. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Pat Lawless
@CruisingTheCut5 жыл бұрын
No I don't, though I have shown Braunston and Droitwich. I only ever go for supplies but also this is specifically a narrowboat / canal channel, not a general UK tourism channel so village tours aren't something I'll do much of; there are other channels that do that better than I would. That said I do show more of that over on my campervan channel because in that case it's all about the destination.

1st, until you get a navigator on board I think a drone is just too dangerous. 2nd, I'm surprised the BBC hasn't already made you an offer to do some documentaries! As I'm sure you know you don't have to do the filming and voice. 3rd, the smiley boat looks like the perfect size for me. I imagine it's a bit bigger than your van inside, if not twice or more as big. Just need to get rid of a lifetime of non-essentials, and get it moved to America. We unfortunately have far fewer amenities for boaters on our navigable inland water system and probably need a bit more power to deal with the currant. 4th, lovely, lovely vlog, I'll be watching this one again.

I think I'm hooked on your show-it's soothing, and hysterical, often, as you have a bit of the comedian in your dialog. I have been lured away by the Van rebuild, so am going back and forth. I think you might do a brief break down of British idioms for those of us outside the UK, who are often lost with the jargon. Things about the loo, a tic, and more leave me baffled(I know I'm slow) but seriously a glossary of terms for the slow on the uptake types. meanwhile...keep up the great work!
@nevillemason67912 жыл бұрын
But the English speaking world covers many countries and you don't bother to say where you live. It'll vary by country what 'British idioms' are familiar in that country or not. A British person will not realise what is 'a British idiom'. Can I suggest instead you just do a little research on what you don't understand? I know, for instance, many expressions are common to both the UK and the USA but a few are unique to the UK i.e. "I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole." (I want absolutely nothing to do with that person.)
