If I was to pick a video to demonstrate what your channel is about this fits the bill perfectly. Fantastic shots of gorgeous scenery. It’s amazing the amount of engineering that went into the canals before the railways appeared. Like many branch lines I imagine lots get overgrown and are now disused? The title drew me in to watch this one 😀
@CruisingTheCut7 жыл бұрын
Cheers Greg. The Staffs and Worcs was indeed lovely. A lot of the old canals became derelict, not so much branch lines as such just that a lot of them became disused and overgrown when the whole network stopped being used. Since the boom in leisure use, the main ones are maintained and there are lots of volunteers trying to re-open old routes. I did a vlog about a similar topic last winter but can't remember offhand which vlog it was, maybe vlog 80; I imagine you'd enjoy that one.

Shorter in duration but still high quality. I always enjoy your channel because of the content, smooth editing, easy music, and beautiful scenery. Of course, your polished, professional voice is also a nice touch. Don't get me wrong: I do enjoy the channels of other narrowboat owners but yours is, by far, my favorite. Once again, job well done.

I'm looking forward to your next vlog. Many years ago my wife and I did Stourport to Gloucester and back in a week, the week before Live Aid I recall. Mooring was carefully planned, as i'm sure yours will be. But 19 years ago we moved to Malvern and have frequently visited the places where we tied up for the night! The Yew Tree Inn is a good one, next to the Avon Sailing Club (why it's called Avon when it's on the Severn is a mystery!). Keep up the good work!

love how everything is built up around the canal, like the house at the very end with a window open right on the water. When I see all the old constructions in UK, I get the impression that it was all built in some era when cost was no object, and the only concern was to build things as good as they could possibly be.

Started watching your Vlog back at the begining of August (2019), usually a few episodes a night while having dinner! Don't know what I'll do when I've caught up! Anyway as a Worcestershire resident and originally from Kidderminster too, I thought I couldn't let this episode go by without making a comment. It is particuarly nice to see ones home town in a more pleasant light than it is usally seen in, although as volunteer at the Severn Valley Railway it was a great pitty that a train wasn't going over Falling Sands viaduct as you passed below but you can't have everything!

@@CruisingTheCut that makes sense. Would you then consider shooting more video when you stop at a place for the afternoon? Not just on the boat looking out but from the towpath looking back at the boat and the canals. I always see lots of pretty paths when you're going past and it would be nice to see some footage from a different angle so to speak.
