Thanks , due to your video my husband and I figured out what we were doing wrong. The wireless camera was not working. I questioned why on ours the Camera was pluging into a port through the camper. If it is wireless you should not have to plug directly into the camper. When I watched your video and you were directly connecting into the lights and said that headlights had to be on, all made sense at that point. I determined that the camper is already hard wired and all we had to do is turn on the headlights. That is all it was,, we got horrible directions with our camera. We have had camera for over a year and have not been able to use. I keep telling my husband to look at you tube video, I solved this mystery with in a couple of minutes. This am he was out there over 2 hours and countless other times. Again Thanks

I’ve watched a few videos like this because I just bought a camera kit similar to the one featured in this video. But in this video they are installing it on an Apex trailer like mine, towed by an F150 like mine, and he even climbs up a telescoping ladder just like mine! I hope my camera mount bracket fits into the body of the clearance lamp like this one, so I don’t have to drill any holes!

@@CruisinwiththeColemans Yes, thanks, I watched your newer video after posting my comment here, and I’m going to do it that way. The instructions that came with my camera kit are useless too. LOL - My wife and I have never had a backup argument either. 😂 Great video. Got a similar camera system for one of my cars. It was under a different brand name but is obviously made by the same manufacturer. Same useless instruction book and videos. I muddled thru the install which took way longer than it should have. That being said I loved the quality so I bought an RV/Truck system for my travel trailer from the same company. Knowing the install book and videos were likely useless I googled and found your video. Based on your experience and my own, made the install on my travel trailer and towing truck a breeze. Thanks so much for sharing. Quick story when my wife and I took our travel trailer camping for the first time. We were in our early 50’s at the time. I was sitting outside the trailer with a cold beverage just enjoying nature when an older couple probably in their late 60’s drove up with a large 5th wheel. The wife jumped out to aid the husband back it up. The husband was trying to back up while their little yappy dog was running back and forth on the trucks dash. So with the dog constantly barking and the wife yelling “NOOOO your other Right” etc the poor frazzled guy finally parked in his spot. At that time my wife jumped out of the trailer asking what I was doing. I responded with “ I was just watching us in about 15 years.”

@@CruisinwiththeColemans ok...got one little backlash in the forum...most everyone loved this . But someone mentioned that Fed law is that you have to have that light - 3 lights. And that it also wouldn't pass inspection...of course we are in NC so our state doesn't require inspections on trailers to tag them . Have you had anything on this? Love your videos! Actually read further down in the comments an I think we'll do what you did...just keep all the parts from the light and if needed just reinstall if it becomes a problem. For now this works!

The camera on Amazon has been updated several times since this video came out. The current version does come with the Furrion mount. I mounted the metal piece directly into the housing of the marker light and then filled it with a piece of latex and some silicon to make it watertight. The current version of the mount has little metal “fins” that might need to be bent up or cut off. Hope that helps.

Thanks for making the installation so easy. I actually have an Apex trailer and a F150 so this was perfect. I did want to address your mounting issue. What I did to lower the congestion was run velcro straps through the double slots on each side of the bracket (I also attached the double-sided bracket pad to the bracket but did not take off the second tape as padding) and strapped the monitor to the rearview mirror since it is not used while towing ... it becomes the new rearview mirror. It’s technically the same camera in the link but they have done some upgrades so the mounting bracket is different now. You don’t have to use the Furrion adapter. There are “wings” on the other piece that could be clipped off and I think it would still work with the mounting method we demonstrated.

After watching the video I'm concerned with this installation due to the risk of a water leak. In the video it appears there is an open hole directly into the RV where the wires run through the camera mounting bracket. How did you close off this leak path? Did you apply some type of caulk/sealant in that hole to prevent water intrusion? Water will make its way into the wall of the RV through that hole if not sealed properly.
@CruisinwiththeColemans3 жыл бұрын
Yes, we used a piece of latex and silicone caulk to seal the hole. Also, it’s helpful to make sure there’s a bend in the line so the water drips off rather than running down in.

Installing today. Did you just shove a bunch of silicone into the hole where the cable comes out of the Trailer to keep water out?
@CruisinwiththeColemans4 жыл бұрын
No because I didn’t want to make removal/replacement more difficult in the future. I used a piece of latex to cover the hole and silicone to seal it.
@nesbittjohn3 жыл бұрын
It looked like you still had a fairly large hole in the middle of the original running light mounting plate. Did you have to fill that with anything to keep things water tight?
@CruisinwiththeColemans3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I used a piece of silicon and caulk to plug it. Also, leave a loop in the cord so water doesn’t run in.
@Mr2ndkings3 жыл бұрын
Just getting around to looking at my install and noticed that the cable coming directly out of my camera has a rubber grommet which will not pass through the hole in the bracket. In your install, there was no visible grommet on the cable as you fished the cable through the hole in the bracket. What did you do with the grommet? Cut it off?
@CruisinwiththeColemans3 жыл бұрын
I believe that the grommet is a newer addition as the product has been upgraded. I would remove it if it doesn't fit into the opening.

Pretty neat..And good job not dropping any of those small screws! I have the same camera system, just wondering how well installation will be with the trailer already wired for the Furrion camera? Will see when I go attempting to install it..But, at least I know that this unit has good video resolution! :)

Thanks! We’ve been happy with it over the years. Let us know how the Furrion setup works out.
@Pantherjonvideos2 жыл бұрын
@@CruisinwiththeColemans Installation went fairly well..The provided 'adapter' to go on the Furrion rain shield gave me the most struggle. The holes were ever so slightly off, and I had to use longer screws to secure it. Also, the camera bracket screws were too small, had to use slightly larger washers so they would be secure(only had 2, hopefully 2 out of 4 is secure enough, knock on wood..lol)..THEN there is no room to put the wiring away, so it just kind of dangles..Picture is nice a bright and clear, so, overall it is worth the little bit of struggle to get it installed..Will see how it performs on our next RV trip!

@picwick572 жыл бұрын
easy install but legally because of trailer width you are to have 5 rear clearance lamps as per code. You may never get hassled but just as easy to feed wires for camera just long enough below lamp to feed power to camera in it's own location. But I get why you opted to do it this way😎

Does it have lag or a delay? When you step on your break does the camera have a light to replace that break light?

The camera replaced one of our running lights, not a break light. We still have 4 other runners across the top. There are lags from time to time but I think you are going to find that with any camera.
