He left knowing that she isn't strong enough to stand on her own or protect herself from threats. This girl who he care for would have been death if it wasn't for Subaru. The one thing Puck have done is to make things worst for Subaru. Also tell Subaru that he have dark magic, but didn't bring that up like for the rest of the show. Sorry that this comment was long, just want to get this off my chest.
