Well what he is fighting is an Echo of a God. Basically since God's can't directly interact with the world, they send out an Echo, which is just a fragment. Plus the one Will is fighting was nerfed.

@@drowsyCoffee honestly its easier to yse pathfinder here with a mix of 3.5. Mans not just a multiclass, he is a gestalt of magus and paladin (basically all abilities and good saves from both classes, highest hit dice, highest skills per level, both classes equal 1 level)

@@ShadowAraun It's not so much something like D&D classes, and more like the system used in Sword World (which is more prevalent in Japan) You have an adventurer level (your highest individual job level) and different job skills that correspond to things like classes. He basically grew up training as a conjuror-priest-fighter and fights with a combination of those three sets of skills depending on what he needs.

When you think about it, it makes sense. MC got reincarnated to another world and upon reaching adulthood he HAS to choose a guardian deity. Gracefeel, a goddess of the cycle of death and rebirth (aka reincarnation) is the logical choice for this reincarnated isekai MC. I only hope he does not get the Re-Zero side-effect (aka Subaru's mental breakdowns) as a toll for her protection. He did offer up his life to the goddess, which is a LOT to offer, but according to Blood he will suffer a LOT in exchange (I guess both physically and mentally).

I think that just means that he’s now one of Gracefeel’s chief agents upon the mortal world, so any important tasks she has, anyone looking for help from her, and any enemies she has will all be dropped in his lap. I don’t think the gods in this world have those drawbacks that Subaru has to deal with. For one thing, while they have godlike power, the witches of sin aren’t gods and pretty much acquired their power by committing taboos, so there’d be pretty intense costs to using such power.

@@edd868 Yes. She did choose to offer Will her patronage, I get the feeling that she doesn’t often choose people like this. But at the end of the day, it was Will’s decision to accept that offer. When it comes to spiritual stuff like pledging your soul to a god, it has to be of your own free will. Will could’ve easily chosen to pray to the God of Tyranny, or the God of Knowledge. But his affinity for them was low, and they didn’t know him like Gracefeel did, so they’d be unlikely to answer his prayers in any meaningful way like she did. That’s why Stagnate thought that he’d be able to offer the best deal. He thought that Will was an undiscovered talent and that none of the others would grant him power, even if he did offer up his life.

Likewise it seems like he's the first person in a long time to truly understand her purpose as a goddess.

Stagnate wanted Will to try everything he could think of so when he knelt at the god’s feet in defeat, it would be absolute, and he’d never attempt to rebel against him again. He never thought that another god would invest so much power in Will. After all, Stagnate had no reason to believe that anyone was watching Will. He assumed that Will was an undiscovered talent and he had dibs because he found Will first.
