The way recent Boruto anime proved Ino is the best of friends anyone could ask for on whom sakura still relies on, the most ideal parent who never doubts her kid's abilities, never forces her wishes on him and lets him walk on his own path even if it means to discard her clan's traditions, the best daughter who is devoting her life to carry on her late-father's legacy so far that she even rebuilt the entire sensory system of the village, a well respected and superb kunoichi who leads her clan, security division, and helps in interrogations while going on missions as well, a wonderful housewife who takes care of a family while running a flower shop because it's something she wants to do. On top of that with her contributions in war, Ino has always been the best girl.

I legit want to see Naruto redone but w/ Ino as the heroine. Not a knock on Sakura, it's just: as a character, what she offers is not just unique ability to make her stand out but one that would be a fantastic catalyst for her character growth, and gives her a way to directly impact and develop w/ Naruto (and by extension the story) in a way not Sakura nor any other potential female lead could. Imagine, she's on Team 7, and through using her mind jutsus she discovers the Nine Tails relatively early in the plot, way earlier than any other character around Naruto's age learns. This would massively shift not just her perspective of Naruto's, causing massive change in their relationship from being just teammates to her fearing him but eventually becoming confidants. Like as the story progresses and they bond over time, her entering his mind would become habit and almost like a haven for them to chat whenever they need to discuss anything, especially personal stuff. This would result in things like her actually being there emotionally for Naruto through his hardest times even if she physically wasn't present. She'd be able to understand Naruto on a level deeper than any other character ever could. improves

@@cristinaavoni5496 So you're logic is: because at mid-point in the story (pay no mind to what she showed since that arc), and as a minor character (meaning there's very little in that scenario to make her relevant), she was underpowered (in a show notorious for wasting female characters in general), means anyone who sees actual potential for an alternative way to use her is just a 'simp'. @@RandomProcras there's no need to rewrite a story, even hypothetically if Ino as the main heroine wouldn't make any difference. Maybe even more useless. She can't even fight, she is good as a supporter not a fighter. You could say Hinata somehow because of byakugan but not Ino... gosh. Even though she was a minor character Kishomoto didn't give her moments like for Lee, Shikamaru or Neji etc..

Just as there's also no need to continue the canon, there's no need to ever put out another episode, and there's no need for you to respond to this purely "what if" concept. But hey, it happens anyways. 2) You chalking up a character's usefulness to how well they can fight is extremely basic. You bring up hinata but from a purely combatant standpoint the lone person less of a fighter than her in the 11 is Ino, so by your own logic hinata is even more useless than Tenten. But Ino at least has something else to offer besides being able to punch things. And that's my whole point with this idea. That I see her mental powers as something worth fleshing out and would make considerable and interesting contributions to both her character arc and to the plot. And since you put so much weight into fighting ability to gauge worth of characters, lemme let you in on a secret: relevancy dictates competency. Its all basically a form of plot armor. Remember, Ino was established as more competent than Sakura out of the academy. But with only having learned wall running since then, Sakura manages a tie with Ino the Chunin exams. I mean hell, with no special training or skills, Sakura broke free from mind swap- something only a few other characters have been able to do, yet an average genin managed. That's entirely because she was the heroine. So it's not unreasonable by any means to say Ino would be more competent in general simply by being a more important character (if that feels artificial, guess what, it kinda is but that's the way power levels tend to work in shonens, especially one like Naruto) . 3) Saying she never got a moment, is not just irrelevant but also false. Lack of screentime or "not having their moment" is not an argument against hypothesizing about a fanon idea, that shouldn't be that hard to grasp. Also, you have to intentionally be ignoring what she did in the war, to claim she didn't have "her moment". From smaller things like controlling multiple zetsus at once to having to more impactful things like having to replace her dead father directing the armies midbattle and with no real time to mourn- that's pretty damn impressive both as a display skills as well as from an emotional strength view. And again, that mental and emotional strength is why I am fascinated by what she could've brought to the table had she had been given the chance.
