It's easier if you're already an emperor. That way when for instance your wife becomes the "queen" of that country she also becomes a vassal of yours since you can have vassal kings under you.

I know this is super late, but heres some extra info to anyone still playing the game: In this example, he married the queen of Hungary and then conquered Hungary for her. If you do this, you will need to wait for you heir to inherit the title. What you can do instead to instantly add the title to your control is once you have married i.e. the queen of Hungary, give her a landed title equal or higher to the title she will receive; meaning in this instance a Kingdom tier title (Which will only work if you're an empire) and THEN conquer Hungary for her. She will, upon receiving the title, be your vassal, and your child will still inherit the title nonetheless. If you want to know more about this topic, it's called "Vassal inheritance".

i recently got the kingdom of trebozand as the king of greece because of marriage,all i did was marry my daughter to the king,they had a daughter,then a marry a cousin to the same daughter,somehow it was a normal marriage,i change the sucession to elective,choose the cousin,i played as him for 12 years,then as his son,i worked day and night to kill my bitch mother to inherit the kingdom totally worked

The fastest way i have gained land was be high diplo single or two county. Nords invade, i lose i become vassal. Get appointed on council. All vassals revolt to make me king of Norway or some such. Revolt won.

Couldn't claim the Arabian empire as a Viking count because of the Iqta government type only allows male inheritance, so my wife's claim was dead in the water :(

How do you marry without "political issues" getting the way?

"political issues" means that they know what you are trying to do, (take their shit). This typically happens with nearby countries, or other vassals of your liege. You have 2 options: 1. Check the claimants screen for that title, if you can marry any or marry your child with any, then do that and push that claim. if that doesnt work then... 2. try some other nation, sucks, but there isnt much you can do.
