I did a Ireland to Britannia run and had some long-term allies in Aragon and the HRE himself. At some point, Aragon and the HRE emperor started asking me to marry family members, and I had the pop-up "They are related and the children coul be inbred!" I just stopped caring after some point and let them marry anyway. More renown for me

always make sure to be as close to your domain limit as possible, make alliances with troublesome vassals to avoid civil wars, giving titles to secondary heirs while youre still alive counts towards their inheritance and can be used to avoid splitting your realm unfavorably, and pick your men at arms based primarily on what terrain youre going to be fighting in. other than that the game pretty much plays itself
