Also at 5:27 the rules have changed since the release of the game, and it now takes TWO successes to assassinate an heir. Everyone else is still one, except the monarch, who's still three successes.

If you live in a decent sized city, most boardgaming shops have a game room where you can meet with people and play. Find a shop you like, become a regular, and you'll never have problems getting a gaming group together again

I've played this game (backed it even) several times now, and it's become one of my more favorite games to play. I've played it so much, we had to take a break and play some other games for a while (like Terraforming Mars).

I bought it on Kickstarter. It is a fun game. It’s one that my game group sees as having some issues but is still loved warts and all. The issue I see with it is that the nature of the Crusade track makes it rather predictable that the game will end before the third era. The biggest issue with this is that war takes a lot of planning. So we’ve played twice where only maybe one or two if any battles between players ever takes place. Not crazy about the hyper focus on the rush to crusade over all things Anyhow because I feel crusading is the least interesting mechanic in the game but everybody wants those bonuses. So off they go. Plus the game doesn’t actually give you much choice.

Quill, I 100% agree that the rule book sucks. I read over it and my head was spinning...and I have a lot of hours playing board games and CK2. It scares away people that have not play many board games or played CK2 before.

There's a bad habit of first press rulebooks being beta releases now. It happened with Monolith's Conan minis game, and with GW's 2017 Necromunda game. Both had to release revised rulebooks that actually told you how to play the game as intended, rather than just being rule salad that would get laughed off /tg/.

Let me correct a couple of things in this review. On @2:48 "You can get an extra point or two if you complete certain milestones (...) if you are the first person to build 3 castles ot eh first person to get 4 development cards" - It is in fact not 100% correct. You get the extra VP at the end of the game for these milestones unless somebody suparsses you if somebody builds 4 Castles for instance or if you do not meet the requirement anymore (somebody stole your development card or took one of you territories with that castle and now you have only two. Yes, manual is terrible... but the game is so gooood!!!

You should check Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride. Carcassonne is really incredible to get starting (and cheap) , it is a mix between puzzle and strategy (and also diplomacy) it has simple rules (shorter than monopoly) and yet is really fun to play, and quite short. It's big strength is that a wide range of people can play it and appreciate it, from young to old and from newbie to veteran player. Ticket to ride I haven't played it a lot but it is quite fun and not to complex either, it is a planning game about train and might be a bit more familiar to play coming from monopoly but is totally different. Monopoly is a bad game now, a lot of people don't think about that but board game can be obsolete and this one is. It has really bad game design when compared to more recent games. If you are interested about boardgames I recommend you check kzbin.info/door/yRhIGDUKdIOw07Pd8pHxCw they do entertaining and complete reviews.

It hasn't ever changed all they've ever done is whack different themes on the exact same thing. Star wars themed monopoly (same game) lord of the rings monopoly (same game) lol how and when did it become 'bad' precisely? You know what my favourite games is... snakes and ladders... I dare you to call it frickin out dated! I mean I can imagine if your some kinda board game obsessed super dweeb you could get bored with it eventually haha but being bored with it doesn't make it bad ffs. @@1invag lol I mean it has design issue it doesn't mean you can't have fun, I still like the game. But one of its biggest strengths is that it is widely spread and everyone knows how to play it (well not always following the true rules). The new special edition are better and more interesting, but you have almost nothing to do except throwing dices, hoping to have luck, buying what you can and try to make some deals but most of my games deals are quite rare. Thing is a game takes ages and for this amount of time I'd rather play something where there is a bit more game play. I have almost never ended a game because people are always bored before the end, that a reason why I believe it is bad. Maybe I am playing with the wrong players and it s not my favorite genre, anyway if you enjoy it I'm glad for you. Edit: it is bad now means it has not aged well, it was good for its time but now there is better

Combed Autumn Monopoly is a classic, but there are tons of better-designed games on the market now. “Bad” is relative, but there are a lot of good games now with the board game renaissance over the last decade or so, and Monopoly isn’t even near the top anymore.

It shouldn't, really. I get that the list can be intimidating, if that's what happened in your case, but you don't really need any of them. I own only Sword of Islam (which I pretty much never play) and Old Gods and I love CK2.

I got this game from the kickstarter and was disappointed. The game pieces are cheaply made, and the rules are overly complex. It has some fun elements but you can get this from better made games like Medieval Risk.

As far as i know the game suffered from some issues early on the campaign and with logistical issues. But the final public version has fantastic reviews on boardgamegeek so it is probably a miss-representation of the final product

Boudica Exemplum look at the reviews on Internet, basically it says that Paradox should stick to PC games and avoid board games, major failure at transporting a PC game into a boardgame

"Reviewed Bombed", Hardly. There are a few very disappointed backers that have made a lot of noise about it. Mostly about, that the game lacks depth, too simple vp system, that the knight figure isn't a combat figure and the bad solo rules. Sure, I can understand that if you the game wasn't what you thought, that you get disappointed, it is an expensive game after all. But it was known from the beginning what this game was suppose to be, no one forced them to back it. The rulebook was a mess, but they have released a second rulebook and a faq. I have played the game a lot and it is a good intrigue and diplomacy game with a lot of theme. Even though you can make war, it isn't a wargame (some of those disappointed backers thought it was).

Wonderful pitch. I want to learn about what the game is like to play, not how nice it looks. There's plenty of other videos that take 20-40 minutes going through all the components, board, and rules for 20-40 minutes for those who want an indepth walkthrough. I just want to know what the game is like and why I should buy it.
