Thanks for the entertaining content! I had no idea the King’s Gambit could be so lethal. It’s instructive to see how to punish beginner mistakes, like grabbing the f-pawn too early, holding onto it, and neglecting development.

Molto Bene!!! Really enjoyed this video, especially the blunder cause I do it all the time. Thank you!
@vitahast5 күн бұрын
its funny listening to your thought process leading up to the blunder because as soon as you talk about developing the bishop you know its very likely the queen is going to be lost. i guess also you must hold an abstraction of the board in your head. like on your move the queen is safe because of the pin but then you forgot to update your abstraction after the opponent moved their king.

Alessia, excellent video on the King's gambit! Watch out for the modal verbs "don't have to" and "mustn't" in English. "Don't have to" significa non è necessario fare qualcosa, ma si può fare se si vuole. "Mustn't" significa non è permesso fare qualcosa, è vietato. Esempi: You don't have to call me. (Non è necessario che mi chiami, ma puoi farlo.) You mustn't call me. (Non devi chiamarmi, è proibito.)

King's gambit according to David Bronstein, play 3.Nf3 for a draw. Play 3.Bc4 for a win!
@StefanoBurcuta2 күн бұрын
My main opening is king's gambit since last year, my fav line is: e4-e5, f4-exf4, Nf3-g5, Nc3-g4, Ne5-Qh4+, g3-fxg3, Qxg4-g2+, Qxh4-gxh1=Q, Qh5-... However, the opponents are very often tend to decline the gambit by playing Nc6 or to accept and then playing again Nc6 or Bc5

I was usually use _King's Gambit_ because the agressive nature, probably it was my main opening besides _Ruy Lopez_ My advice is "don't use king gambit". No matter how your strategy and tactical is sharp, if black and white play the equal best moves, still white at the edge of falldown. It's force win for black.

Very instructive video. This opening looks very interesting but you need some degree of experience to play it as in some cases it become very technical . Not sure it is good for people like me at 700 but I will try it. you did a good job by underlying some key aspects of the opening but I believe some of them were ignored during the 2nd part of the video. I think it is very important do understand some key points about what not to do as well to keep the flow triggered by the opening. I probably need to watch the video again

* 28:47 2. ...

i often see higher ups retreat their bishop from a pin, usually on a knight, (without maintaining the pin or taking) saying "the bishop has served its purpose". Any way to make that/those scenarios make sense to an 1100? Bc I've always been taught to either keep the pin or be prepared to take

Any opening can be good as long as you know how to play it. The Cow isn’t bad but it’s not great either. It’s a good tool for teaching beginners about how pieces move since it’s a system but less complicated than the London or Dutch.

@@kiraPh1234k That's the problem though, I know about 12 white openings and only like 2 black ones. Everytime I'm black I get trounced cause I'm scratching my head wondering what opening to use, then I realized... it's cause I know none, except for white ones... Especially limiting considering everyone is trying to Fried Liver you to death, so you gotta deal with that pesky bishop. I just think it's unusual we spend half the time on the black side of the board, yet not half of the time strategically analyzing it. Maybe cause black is at a disadvantage so has less creative options? Not sure.
@kiraPh1234k4 күн бұрын
@SmartDumbNerdyCool I focus on 1 opening for each, only filling in gaps for when opponent plays other moves. For example, there's little reason to know the Ruy Lopez and the Italian game. As well, learn the Sicilian as black and you won't need to worry about the fried liver Edit: I meant knowing both btw -- not that either of them isn't worth knowing. It's just that why deviate from an opening when you could prepare it deeper. I study Ruy Lopez so I have no reason to study Italian game right now. If I studied Italian game I'd have no reason to study Ruy Lopez right now
