Once space saving thing on construction. The red area on the model on the right side shows the citadel. The citadel includes the area from the first gun to the last gun and includes the funnel. Making that as small as passible can be big weight savings. Aka the Nelson/Rodney style all forward armament. On destroyers this citadel includes also the torpedoes.

LETTERS HOME May 31 1916, Off the coast of Lithuania Dear Okaa-san, I hope this finds you well. You won't believe where I am. I'm in Europe! The fleet was dispatched to invade the Black Sea, and we even had the chance to have a stop in Italy during the way. Italy was truly beautiflul, just like you and Oto-san used to tell us. We had a visit in Rome, where we had more than few strange looks, but it all went well... Well, apart from when Lieutenant Kishida tried to order a Pizza with Pineapple... What an idiot. That literally turned all the restaurant against him and we all had to run away from a revolt in being... I already know that this will make you squee in pure pride. I found a girl in Rome, a really kind girl that hosted us in her house. Her father was a really good man, kind and cheerful and when she asked him if she could come with us, he was pretty worried, but she managed to convince him to let her go with the condition that Admiral Nara agreed. Now she lives aboard one of the support vessels and works as a nurse, and I have the permission to see her every three weeks... I can't wait to bring her to see Japan. You'll all like her. But for now, I have a job to do. Your son Lorenzo Ferrari-Togo

Clicked the video so fast Its only in 360P! Guess I'll just squint a little to distort the blurriness. Nice Light Cruiser, reminds me of a reversed Myoko in alot of ways. Far as early light or heavy cruisers goes, having wing/side guns is not that WIERD, alot of early CLs tended to be made out of guns so to speak. Although those where Open Gun mounts not Turrets, Turrets tended to be center lined ALWAYS. I think only battleships tended to have Main Gun wing turrets. "we are not scaling down a battleship to be a cruiser, we are scaling up a cruiser to be a battleship", aw so the AMERICAN idea of Battlecruisers (looking at you USS Alaska class). Its funny how Alaska is one of the many "debate" ships as to what constitutes a battlecruiser, by the Traditional Definition she most certainly FITS the designation of Battlecruiser. However, in the Context of WW2 and the Escalation clause, the designation of Large Cruiser also fits, she is just a BIGGER Cruiser packing bigger 12 inch guns, by contrast BBs by that point where rocking 15inch, 16inch, 18inch guns in case of the Yamato. Researching range finders is interesting, cus their are 2 different types: 1 helps with "long range accuracy" and the other I think ether just gives you accuracy in general among other things.
