My mom passed just a year ago. I miss her every day. She was one of a kind, she sounds like your mom. She could bake, cook, sew, lay tile, garden, and she made porcelin dolls. She took a college course in computers at the age of 70. She aced it. She was much more smart then I will ever be! She was my best friend, never will I replace her. It sounds like your mom was terrific to! We were so BLESSED❤.

Thanks for being in the same groove as myself today! I have been remembering my Mom today as it was her birthday. Like your Mom, she sewed, knocked down walls, and believed she could do what she put her mind to do. That attitude has carried through to me trying to be as “wise” as my mother and grandmother for my own grand children. One line of advice from my grandmother was to never let any man call me “Doll”. My grandmother said: “None of my granddaughters are empty headed playthings!”.

Good morning Nanny! I love stories about family and the “old” days. What special memories about your mom. She sounds like an incredible lady. I can see where you got your ways. I still abide by my mother’s lessons. I still hear her voice in my ear. My son asks me “why do you still do things that way?”. I said that is how I was brought up. He tells me “but you’re grown up now”. Well that is who I am! Your mother gave you wonderful advice. I still believe in the old values. For the most part I am old fashioned, however I am also a “ thoroughly modern Millie”. A few months ago I was telling a lady that I laid all of the tile in our home. I painted the inside and outside. I remodeled the kitchen, etc. Her reply was “I should have known that you did manual man’s work”. I enjoyed every minute of it. We have been in this home 51 years and I redecorated many times. I am a very girly girl so my actions had nothing to do with femininity. You were so lucky that your mother had talks with you about sex. I knew nothing! On our wedding night my husband and I were both virgins. We learned together! My mother would never mention anything along those lines. I learned about periods in school. They had all of the girls in the auditorium and showed a short film then gave us a pamphlet from Kotex. I think that they had the boys see a film as well. When I asked my mother about it she told me that “we don’t talk about those things”. I was completely open with my children. Your sandwich sounds delicious. I would not have thought of onions. I still try to match shoes, bag and hats. I am reluctant to wear my pretty hats anymore because it is no longer in fashion. Only sun hats. When my husband and I went to tea I would dress up and wear a beautiful hat. Oh how I miss that! I am so glad the Moose is well and going on an outing. We need to make the most of every minute and find things to enjoy. I hope that you have a wonderful weekend and stay cool. Blessings to you both, love, Sharon

Hello from Annie in Australia it so good to watch your videos it makes me feel happy and get this cosy feeling like we are part of your family. You have a large family that is so close and caring it is so nice to see that, As I just have one daughter and she is in her early fourties and has three teen age kids but I have not seen them in over seven years due to her second husband etc. I used to be very close to my girl. I was just 16yrs old when my adoptive mum passed and I still miss her to this day. She was always working and busy around house and garden so did not get to spend enough time with her as I wanted and I was an only child too. But at times when mum would sit down to eat or drink for a few mins I would jump in to her lap and hug her lots. I loved her so much and really needed more of her time. But some evenings or weekends she would go to chat with her lady friends down the street all Polish people who baked great cakes! I would follow her even when told to stay home, I wanted the company and to listen to old ladies talk then it was very interesting and curiosity always got the better so I just had to ears drop on their chats while eating cakes. They would talk about adult stuff mostly and I was always told never to let a boy have his way with you no matter what, even if you liked him you had to play hard to get! My mum never talked sex with me just mentioned romance rarely normally if we watched a old romantic movie on tv. I needed a mother when she passed and was very lost as did not know even those basic facts of life no one ever told me anything. As a matter of fact when I was 13 on my birthday got those monthly things at school and got a scare my teacher had to explain it all to me said it was nothing new every girl had it and then she told me where babies came from as I still thought it was a stork that dropped them in the cabbage patch..... Teacher laughed so hard when heard that and told me I would now have to educate my mother when I got home that day!. Well I ran home to tell mother she had it all wrong about that stork! And told her got those monthlys she said she never had hers till she was 17yrs old so did not think she needed to mention it till I was 17 yrs old. But she passed three yrs later when I was 16yrs old it was such a sad time never really got over loosing my mum at such a very young age. Adoptive father was a womaniser and did not really care about me just wanted me out the way and married me off at 18yrs old to an unsuitable boy who was same age. He sold the family home and bought another house for the she picked the house woman with 5 adult sons he was living with then and later married and they pushed me away was not treated like family even when my daughter was born just before I was 19yrs old a month before. So always wanted to belong to a big happy family but didn't sad to say so watching you guys gives me a taste of what it is like.

Hi Nanny, my Mother never talked to me about sex, not a word. Although I am very close to my mother now she was very removed when we were growing up. All my memories come from my dad who taught me to be who I am today. My mother was like yours in the way that if she wanted something done she did it. She would take a sledgehammer and saws and if she didn’t wanna wall where it was she would just knock the whole wall down. She was wild and mischievous and never turned down an adventure. She was not domestic, meaning she did not like to cook and never baked but she did clean. She was also a walking fashion plate styled from head to toe, she worked in the fashion industry so she had it all your mother sounds like a remarkable woman and she taught you so much. Thank you for sharing all the wonderful memories about your mother! Love and blessings, Sheila

Imagine the surprise( especially to my precious Dad) when the doctor announced there were two! They were both “salt of the Earth”people who sacrificed all they could to send us to college and graduate school when it was so hard for them. We had the happiest childhood…simple and sweet, but we adored our parents! Granted, they were strict on us concerning our academics, boys, and manners, but I am SO appreciative that they were! I miss them, but they gave us the moral structure ( forgive us for our college “ gone astray” years)…that we needed ! Thank you for your nostalgic video…you, too, had a great moral compass called”Mother”❣️

Oh Nanny this was so good! I felt like I knew ur mom ! What a wonderful mom she was ! My mom use to tell me that if a boy touched me I'd get pregnant lol I remember one time the boy that lived behind me was so cute and we took a walk together and he hugged me and I hit the ground crying running home telling my mom I was pregnant ! That poor boy! My mom had to tell me that was not true bc I was hysterical! I was so mad at her!!! Lol I was 12! Talking sex was taboo! Isn't that funny ! My mom was stylish and I did learn a lot of taking care of myself and my skin from her bc she was beautiful herself and her appearance was important! I learned a lot from my mom of what to do and what NOT to do with my kids! Some things made me a better parent ! My mom was so opposite than my dad but it worked! I enjoyed this so much and liked Mooseys input too! So glad he finally tested negative ! Denny was 67 days positive after he left the hospital and a Covid test every week! We celebrated too! Love you both Barb ❤️❤️

@@crushingtheir80snannyandmoose yep he had Covid so bad in the hospital that it stayed in his body for 67 days after he left the hospital! He had to have two negative tests in a row and that took 67 days ! It was awful! He would have a negative test and then go back three days later and it would be positive and then he go back a week later and it would be positive still so after 67 days he went back and it was negative we went back three days later and it was negative again so that cleared him! Lord! When he finally was negative our dr wanted to throw us a party lol Thank goodness it's over and I hope we never get it again! Hooray to Moose! ❤️❤️

How lovely Nanny that you had such a close and nurturing relationship with your mom. I have sweet memories of my mom as a young child and I know she loved me. As I grew older and she became very close to my younger sister, she compared us and hence I grew apart from her and my sister. She was a very good woman, she loved me. But I know she did not like me. My sister was meek and shy and very conformist and I was very outgoing, spirited and spontaneous. I was much more like my dad who I was very close to. Now that she is in assisted living I feel so bad for her and am grateful I had a good mother in my childhood and although I tried to become close to her it never really happened. I was not successful like my sisters and have had a lot of struggles. My parents helped me over the years which I am so grateful for but I know it was mostly because of my dad. I was left out of so many events and I apologize TMI. I guess that relaxing bath and warm water got to my head as I was reminiscing about my dad, auntie, grandparents and uncle and feeling I had no one to really reach out to from my family now. I am so happy to know how blessed you were and your children so blessed to have you. Again. Sorry for the TMI-SEE you are not the only one going down rabbit holes! Lol 😂 Love you all and God bless you always. Hugs, Elizabeth XX ✌🏻🙏🌸💐❤️🎈😊😉😘🌸

Wow, your mother must have been an incredible role model and now you’ve followed suit with your daughters! My mother also sewed beautifully (she had to really because we lived on a plantation in Papua New Guinea, where there were no clothing stores to speak of). She was a nurse and very clever to boot and a wonderful and kind mother. I miss her terribly. Thank you for another enjoyable video Nanny and I’m so pleased to hear that Moose has finally tested negative! xx

So glad Moose is Covid Clear and you did not get it too Nanny. Hooray!!!!! 😃 What a Wonderful Relationship you had with your Mother, Nanny. It was great that you could talk to her about Anything. She sounds a lovely person. My Mum was Very Private and did not discuss Sex. But Mum had a bunch of Sisters, so my Aunties would answer any questions I had. It was just her way. Have a Wonderful Week Nanny. I loved your hair style too this Week. Lot’s of Love Cathy from Scotland 🏴 xxx

I really enjoyed this video. One of the endearing quirks that my mother had was the fact that she was always on the hunt for the perfect purse. She just didn't think it was possible but towards the end of her life I think she finally found one. She would tell me this a lot when we would be out shopping. My three sisters and I got quite a kick out her because she said this so often that we put this in her obituary. She had a great sense of humor.

Wonderful memories & good advice. My mom & I were not at all close growing up -- I was always a daddy's girl & he died when I was 13. Mom is now almost 85 and we have gotten closer the last 10-12 years. My daughter and I ARE close. You are very fortunate to have had such a great relationship! Sometimes I find myself speaking too sharply with her or losing patience. But one of the later pieces of advice she gave me was: Remember, you will be here too. She told me other things that have stuck with me like Nothing is permanent; everything changes, the good as well as the bad...and As you age, the years go faster...and Always look your best no matter where you're going. So I have picked up some gems from her through the years 😊 Love and hugs from SWELTERING West Texas-- Candy P.S. Hallelujah for the negative test, Moosie!
