The incident you mentioned about YSR isn't his best masterstroke. The best one is during his first term when he called the maoists for "peace talks" and lifted the ban on them. He gave them so much freehand and spoke so sweet that they all believed him and came out of their hidings. They visited their relatives, went to movies and leisure activities in Hyderabad. After 10 days or so he suddenly declared that the talks have failed and imposed a ban effective immediately. All the "comrades" who were in a merry mood suddenly had to run into the forest. The state intelligence units wereput behind them and all their hideouts were known. Starting that day until 2009 he eliminated most of the ranks from the united AP. Today there's almost no activity in Telangana and all the andhra state maoists have settled down in the andhra-orissa border.
