The biggest irony is that Europe bought a record amount of LNG from Russia in 2024 for more money which is less efficient than pipeline gas. I bet they will break that record in 2025 now too! Russia proved that they respect international agreements. Three years of war and they still exported gas and at the same price to the EU despite sanctions against Russia and sitting on the opposite sides of the table. The US would never do that if it was in a Russian position. So much of moral high ground. To put it lightly, the EU is in the deep sos now and they can only blame themselves. Liquid gas is not a long term solution nor a reliable one. Even a transport organisation is slow and dependent on too many factors (from mother nature, lack of ships, lack of facilities to change gas to liquid than to gas again once it reaches Europe). It is at least four times more expensive than the Russian one. Europe fecked itself. EU countries are on paper all democracies yet nobody votes for the people who are making these "beyond smart" decisions in the name of EU citizens. No wonder the economy and standard are in free fall.
