Its just a pop rock song with a fat beat. I love Jason Mraz and John Mayer and mostly Justin Timberlake, and that's what I was channeling when I wrote this. I wrote everything except the chorus and bridge all at once and had to revisit the song later cuz I couldn't think of what the chorus should be. This also the only song with acoustic instruments, I played a banjo and acoustic guitar that my grandma gave me. I should probly mention that my grandma is the most amazing banjo player youll ever meet. I had no idea what to do with the banjo and acoustic mix wise. When me and Chris were doing the final mixes, he was like, 'um, take all the plugins off the acoustic and banjo and just eq it a little bit' and what do ya know, it sounded great. I guess I can't take the same approach I take to mixing drums to the banjo. I really like the hits in the last chorus it really helps it become more powerful. ALSO, that drum fill in the middle of the last chorus followed by that ridiculously long riff Joanna does. Mind blowing. OH and MADDIES SOLO! Rewind the song and go listen to it again. I was busy talking about how to mix acoustic guitars, but who cares. That girl can play, shes unbelievable.
Drew Ofthe Drew - Bass, additional guitar, banjo, acoustic guitar
Joanna Teters - Vocals
Ian Barnett - Left side drums
JP Bouvet - Right side drums
Maddie Rice - Guitar

Strange thing: The song has 3 effects 1.) First attraction = instant love (because of the combination of guitar and groove) 2.) curiosity during hearing: what happens now? 3.) Long term love (im hearing many many old and new songs in youtube every day, but every day , in the morning or in the evening I remember : There was this crazy song from berklee!!! And i enjoy it every time I here it. My favorite for weeks !!!)

I first saw this video off a year and half old facebook post 3 weeks ago... In that time I have shown it to everyone who will let me. I play and teach with tons of incredibly musicians, and not one of them reacted with anything less than ebullient praise. I don't even know if you guys are still a band, but I'm going to keep pushing you guys at every opportunity.

This is my favorite of all their songs. I’ve returned to it several times over the last ten years, and it hasn’t lost its appeal yet. Each of these musicians is a prodigious talent in her/his own right, but the synergy of their unique contributions creates an end result that takes your breath away. Through the medium of (under the guise of?) pop music, they’ve given birth to true art that moves the human spirit (well, mine at least); art that inspires a deep yearning for some long forgotten, elusive sense of fulfillment/connection. The songwriting, the composition, the arrangement - all of it simply beautiful. And the production is top notch. Listening on headphones, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect mix. Thanks to all of the band members for gifting us with their creativity!

Forgive me for yammering on, but I would be remiss if I failed to mention Maddie Rice, queen of the guitar! She’s obviously spent many hours honing her craft, and deserves all the accolades everyone is giving her. I shared this video with my 15 year old daughter, who resembles Maddie slightly, because I thought she might enjoy seeing such an accomplished young woman showing how it’s done. I was right. It was particularly fun pointing out Maddie’s totally boss move of making tremolo with her right hand on the whammy bar while simultaneously adjusting her hair with her left hand. The mutual appreciation and enjoyment was a nice father-daughter moment. (Thanks for listening)

If you are referring to Maddie Rice, she's way beyond that. She was a member of Jon Batiste and Stay Human, the house band for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and now she's the guitarist for the Saturday Night Live house band...hardest gig to get on the planet.
@EgoShredder
@EgoShredder 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheSlandis I was referring more to the technical and musical prowess required to even play with the likes of Tony Macalpine, rather than getting into a high profile gig. All things considered I hope Maddie gets where her desire leads her to.
