Just FYI: that is Tom Cruise driving the car, NOT a stunt driver. He did some special stunt driving training, in order to shoot the scene. And they did everything with practical stunts, NO CGI ala ''Fast & Furious'' or something.

@@ilovedrifting13 Malibu was a package/style you could get on the Chevrolet Chevelle line for three generations, from 64-77. In 1978 the Malibu became it's own model and the Chevelle name was retired.
@skeetermcswagger0U8123 жыл бұрын
Well they actually ruined two Malibu's that we're in Chevelle's clothing. Neither one of them were anything special though... they had 5.7 liter(350 cu.in.) crate motors in them both and 1 of them broke the camshaft and driveshaft from over revving during a stunt.
@toddandrews98293 жыл бұрын
Have a 67Chevelle the Malibu was a trim option. Hate to see any of that original steel destroyed because they sure as hell won't ever make anything close to that for style matching old school. They all look the same nowadays, used to be able to ID make, model, and year at a 1/4 mile glance.😞 Miss those days.

The guy that handed him the hat at the end and smiling on the bus, priceless! he knew he pulled a smooth move. Notice as he hands Tom the hat and moves forward to conceal him while he puts on the hat. Then as the cops pass by, he looks back at Tom like " what the hell did you do? " and tom is like " I dunno " as he shrugs his shoulders. I also noticed the other guy on the left also moved over to help conceal tom as well.

Think of it this way, every car is gonna meet its demise oneday and some without achieving anything other than being sat in a garage and driven once a year, this car was used for an absolutely awesome chase scene, it's life may be shorter but it achieved more than alot of other cars will. Also these movie cars they tend to have multiple versions and if the car isn't completely totaled they can send them off to repair shops if the movie corp cares enough.

buddy of mine pulled nearly the same stunt as the dude with the hat. Some guy was running from the cops and drove into a parking ramp. Cops went after him and he came running down the stair well and headed towards us standing in a group outside of a bar at bar close. He hung out in the crowd and my buddy gave him his sweater. The bar owner snitched and both got arrested. Guy was running for weed charges. My buddy was let go and got out without charges.

other way around... modern cars got crumple zones but the cabin is design to stay intact, if you where to get into the same crash with a Chevelle that that was made in the 70's well the steering wheel would be straight through your chess and the engine would've burst through the firewall and cut off your legs... heck in a minor fender bender you would be coughing up blood or missing a few teeth (or broken neck) these was all common things back in the days with these old cars.... still like old muscle cars but drive em carefully...

You can easily turn a low end junker Malibu into a fake chevelle. And I don’t know of any car owner or insurance company that would even let them do such. ( note the Armstrong tunnels where this took place are way brighter then shown and it’s cause I think they switched in a basket case Malibu as a stunt car )
