This track is from one single live performance. A performance that was never supposed to be recorded. If we were never supposed to hear this, think of what other live tracks we may have never heard. BoC are amazing, yet so very frustrating sometimes.

If this is ever released, it needs to be the official mix. It was never supposed to exist, but was willed into existence by people that loved it (the brave soul that recorded it at the concert with bouncers and Machinedrum who mixed it).

Boards of Canada: Type of band to create a banging track that is only featured in a live concert and never released afterwards, and then proceeds never to play live again. Goddammit, lol.

From my understanding (hopefully I’m not wrong) most if not all of their music was made for the enjoyment of family and friends. It seems to some extent even now this is still the case. Which is why some of their music is still yet to ever be released for large distribution and sale. Also I think BoC just believe for what ever reason that their earlier stuff is unsuitable for the public.
@sweetwheatsy
@sweetwheatsy 6 жыл бұрын
Oh wow... Somehow I can't say I'm all that surprised, considering their overall presences, but man. Can't really blame them either. But as long as they do acknowledge their music has influenced (and continues to) the life of not just their friends, to a pretty large extent.
@josshibu4155
@josshibu4155 4 жыл бұрын
@@kaylemkerr6989 the BoC brothers are perfectionists when it comes to their music. My guess is these tracks were made without public expectations taken into consideration which would explain why they dont want anyone to hear them outside of their family and friends. (Or until they polish their back catalogue to fit the quality of their mainline studio albums)

@@secretdrone literally from Machinedrum himself "Since I am a huge nerd I decided to take this bootleg recording and re-produce it for fun. Using the recording I laid new drums over the existing drum patterns (almost 100% accurate to original), replayed some synth parts and the bassline. The only thing I didn't try to re-create was the original vocoder parts and some random samples so I used the original bootleg recording for that."

Fuchk Geemale Indeed, in my opinion, this mix takes something that was once annoying in the original recording and turns it into a sample that becomes part of the song, in a very BoC way. The guy making what sounds like a very enthusiastic comment at 10:38, (The comment Benjamin referred to) perfectly timed after the song ends and before the rest of the audience starts cheering is a favorite moment for me.

John Hooke John, yes I agree. I should clarify my comment intended to refer to all of the audience sounds based on how Machinedrum placed them into the background of the mix. The timing of that particular audience member was especially memorable however. I don't think you could ask for anything better from a live recording.

It's funny, for a band/group that has Canada in the name but is from Scotland...I instead am reminded solely of the southwest states.. especially four corners area, Albuquerque. Probably because I had them as my playlist on a trip there last year. Their music is the perfect complement to that scenery: wide-open landscape and ever changing horizons, long sustained, orange pink red gradient sunsets accompanied by the backdrop of mountains and rock formations. Almost as if the music was made for that.

Library music was part of their roots, I feel. When I began exploring that genre I felt right at home. Of not those albums themselves then their use in TV/radio or Film. For example the intro to the (UK) Bruton label release “Gyroscope” track “Newsbeat” randomly struck me as inspiring the intro for “She is P.” It’s a genre that rewards one for exploration and discovery.

Yes I Am The drum loop has been recreated 1:1 with the original, and the mix has been greatly improved, blending the audience seamlessly into the background, like classic Boards voice samples (turning a major issue with this being a live recording into a strength).
