Why does the young chimp pound himself into the ground rhythmically like that? I understand its because of anxiety i just have never seen it manifested like that before. And he always goes to that same spot as well

There is probably an area where he can escape from his enclosure, as young males have incredible jumping ability.It's only temporary until renovations are completed.
