The cover art! I empathize so much with that poor crummy goblin. Since the Dark Lord’s demise the mind control has dissolved, but what’s done is done. Their tiny goblin heart is nothing but a shrivelled lump of coal now. They survived The Hero’s onslaught by some miracle, or thanks to their own irrepressible cowardice. Now what? The supernatural angst is gone, but nothing else has filled the void. How they long to chew on a fresh slimy frog, or maybe even on a catfish. The furnaces' fumes have probably ruined their snout forever, and yet they’d swear they’re catching a whiff of a nearby swamp’s vapour. Suddenly they remember home ; an emotion fogs their beady eyes.

The cover "art" is made by AI. Not sure if that makes any difference to anyone anymore at this point though, but I just wanted to share.
@MnemonicHack Жыл бұрын
@@Walter5850 Good. I'll take a "mindless" machine producing art over some pretentious "artist". They think just because they can doddle particularly well, that it makes them hot shit. They tend to get too wraped up in their own hype; high on their own farts. So you can draw good, so what? I turn a wrench pretty damn well, but nobody lauds my accomplishments. Humility is a virtue you'll scarcely find in the "art" community.
@Ricardo_Belmonte Жыл бұрын
sounds like someone who isn't an artist would say. It's about the craft of making something by hand, not the hype surrounding it. Your pfp is Corto Maltese by the way, a work that was made by hand by a really famous comic artist, so whats your point? Do you want the world to lose the artist's touch and be replaced by a machines neural network of image theft? AI draws its database from real artists works, its not original. @@MnemonicHack
@MnemonicHack Жыл бұрын
@@Ricardo_Belmonte I am an artist. As an industrial mechanic, I maintain and improve massive structures of steel, plastic and rubber; presses that weigh a hundred tons, robotic lines that can assemble hundreds of components an hour, works of art that can drive entire industries. Machines are art. They're a real, useful, powerful work of art that has actual worth and can PRODUCE worth, as opposed to worth simply assigned to a painting that does nothing but sit there and be interpreted. Don't like that? Well I'm also a writer, and have been one for more than a decade. Writing is an artform all of it's own. I also hand-carve wood and onyx. Nothing is truly original. All artists take influence from anything and everything. To the point where we write laws to make sure someone's art isn't TOO similar to someone else's. I don't bemoan all artists. I'm complaining about the _~Artist~_ who thinks they're oh so unique; a practical gift to the world. And I take ebullient joy in them crying about how a machine does what they can do. Yes, the cover art IS art. Art is in the eye of the beholder, and not for you to decry it simply on the basis that it's made by a machine.

Although 4ish years after getting my beloved N64 I got the PSOne and goddamnit what a charming console with a more charming library. It's funny how different both consoles were. I spent probably real world days designing a map that was basically its own game for the original AoW and loved the sequels, the music to the game as much as anything stands out as a very strong component. If you guys are fans of turn based strategy games check out that series, being able to call down firestorms and earthquakes or floating clouds of pestilence on towns or to exploit the games RPG stats components to make your heroes invulnerable to attacks and or spells was so much fun!

Excellent stuff! I like how it is just dynamic enough without dominating the ear. It grants ambience without the cheap trick of an ever-present airy note that boarders on low grade Tinnitus. The color of the synth feels retro but not exactly dated. The compositions are narrative but only sketched so that they remain abstract. A fantasy surrealist audio journey. My last favorite work of this kind was Tales from Southern Realms by Ziggurath, an absolute gem for my D&D campaign. Mountain Realm - Grayshadow Ruins is defiantly joining the playlist.
