It's a theological saying that suggests what happens in higher realms - particularly the divine - also has bearing on the happenings of the material realm, which is quite accurate considering this song is not-so-subtly about Teridax taking control of the Great Spirit's body and the chaos resulting therefrom.

@@Essenger I'm glad I wasn't making that up when I heard it! I'm not really familiar with Bionicle lore, but the images that came into my mind listening to the music were of some ageless 'caretaker' in a bunker somewhere who has progressively become absorbed in some virtual world of their own design, being VERY reluctantly persuaded by their computers to perform their original, largely-forgotten duty and awkwardly, un-confidently re-engage with the outer reality (bemoaning the unsuitability of their tools for the task) for the purposes of preventing it's destruction in some fashion. It's a good set of images, especially considering what's going on in the world these days.

"As Above, So Below" fits hauntingly well with Bionicle, as you see the MU or the island of Mata Nui as "locked in your paradise/sanctuary that burns while you play God (Mata Nui or Great Beings)", monsters coming out of the shadows, these machines were never built to make things right/ burn alive (First being Mata Nui's destiny, 2nd can apply to the countdown the Mask Of Life was going through that if not stopped would have wiped out all life in the MU.) And the rest of the lyrics just hauntingly highlight how dire things were for the beings in the MU. From Mata Nui and the MU slowly dying, to Teridax's machinations causing chaos for all beings, and the worst of the inhabitants taking advantage of the chaos for their own goals like the Piraka and Barakki.

4 years later and we get an absolute god-tier banger of a tune!!! Essenger must be so humbled to have worked with you lot at Cryoshell, looks like his Bionicle meme videos got him to places! Also that artwork is fantastic, it just drips with homages to 2005-era Bionicle. With what looks like Metru Nui being held in Mata Nui's hand is beautiful imagery and I love the fantastic and clever way of implementing the band's emblem and how it forms the city's layout. "Locked in your Paradise, our Sanctuary burns while you Play God": Makuta Teridax who drove the Matoran out of Metru Nui to the surface and torments them for his own amusement. "As Above, So Below": Self-explanatory, Makuta Teridax seeking out manipulation and control the Surface just as he does from within the Matoran Universe.
