I remember Ovalbore tech telling me to enable both the Octominer setting and also the General Fan settings icon and set them at Auto so that both would autotune essentially depending on environment. Also in the General Fan settings set your critical temp to something like 82-85c and stop miner at least so thjngs dont burn in case (in my case exhaust fan controller died lol). I believe the recalibration also happens if your ambient temps change but not sure if thats auto. I’ve heard my octominers ramp up to 100 on hot days and even colder days randomly for a short time which is “recalibrating”. Good PSA!

Excellent & Actionable information; I have not been able to figure out why I can only run ten GPUs at any given time; no matter which PCIe slot they are placed in; at first I thought it was just the two PCIe slots on the main logic board but I pulled a GPU from the middle of the daughter board and stabbed a card into the slot nearest to the power supply(s) and it worked; but when I filled the slots in the middle it just will not boot up; also when I first got it; I could get 10 cards to run; bit then I plugged in the middle six pin and got to ten; the middle six pin is shown as not connected in every picture I could find; so I put power to to both six pins on the main board but it made no difference; and no one has yet been able to determine why Ii only lets me run 10 out of 12 cards which really sucks; just one of those things that keeps chewing on you until you figure it out!

I had to recalibrate almost all rigs after last hiveos outage. Also, I noticed that you have minimum fan speed set to 80%, what i do is set min to 30% and max 99% and when it cooler at night my fans super quiet and keeping rig cool as well when amient temps are lower dont need to run the fans at 80% imo

I can only get 10 out of 12 cards to run at any given time no matter which slot. No idea why? Edit: Didn't know this; maybe because I use SMOS instead of HiveOS; Hive didn't exsist when I started mining.

Where can this info be found? According to Octominer's own website that only recalibrates the external fans if they are not reading properly. I would just like to know where this info can be found from either Octominer or HiveOS. Thank you. Still a good video though.

Yes it is only the external fans. The case controls the in case temp which essentially trickles down to the cards heat sensors from my understanding The images are a basic definition as to “why is the fan HiveOS recalibration important for your mining rigs” (something along those lines I forget what I asked chat gpt specifically)
