I've bought like ten copies of this book, reread it and then gave it away to someone I hope would appreciate it. Okay, that's sort of a stretch, one of them I just forgot in the Dubai airport on layover, but still hope it wasn't just tossed away.

When you tackle The Baroque Cycle you will see some familiar family names :P Stephenson definitely has a slow burn style, but I do love his historical fiction stuff (Baroque obviously being his other).

I agree it could have been condensed! I really enjoyed Bobby scenes and Lawrence scenes the most. Idk it was really cool tied it all together with Randy’s And Goto Dengo storyline. I did read snow crash before this! Overall it was a great book if you’re into this kind of stuff! Next is diamond age

You're mispronouncing the man's name, I'm a Stephen myself, and I have had call centre staff pronounce my name the way you do, 'Stephen' is pronounced exactly the same as 'Steven'
