What do you think is the best setting? Best f-stop? Best subject matter?

Just ordered in the small glass ball. I was really hoping you'd have your conclusions at the end of the video or at least your thoughts on it. Still enjoyed it. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. I always wonder if my opinion is wanted or people just want to see the tests/examples. I think that the larger ball looked better in photos but not over the glass. So I would personally probably buy a big, glass ball. I also thought that having a ball definitely enhanced some of the boring shots we took, so maybe it could be a tool for special shoots but not used every time (#overkill). Having the small one would be great for traveling, so I think your purchase choice was a smart move. Thanks for watching and be sure to check my giveaway video. It ends soon. -Jen

I'm really pleasantly surprised at how well the plastic one worked and how clear it was. I guess one of the bonuses for the plastic as that maybe you won't accidentally burn your hand with the Sun or start a fire. Lol

Yes, choose a smaller ball - the larger balls can dominate your outing - I have a 150mm lensball.com.au and it means taking images is pretty much all I can do when I lug it around. My fave size is the 70mm as it captures width but at the same time is easy to transport as a tourist / traveller.

Great video, thanks for sharing! Love your test 5:00 Personally we recommend the larger sizes for more details within the ball... #lensball #lensballshots #lensballphoto #lensball_world

I ordered my with stand and now waiting time to receive them. And I ordered glass ball 80 mm one . As I was read that if ball is expensive there comes more quality then cheaper ones. I am new photography guy. And will test some day film photography with medium format 120 mm films. They are still alive and must keep them alive.

Tbh id say around f4, that adds some clarity to the background while it still being pretty blurred and focused on the ball.
@StayPosh6 жыл бұрын
I think you are spot on. I noticed with a wider f-stop, the ball became too blurry on the edges for my taste. Thanks for commenting!

There's an iPhone app that does this same effect. I also have the same glass ball you used in your video. Sharper than plastic.

A smaller one is better for pictures in my opinion. Less powerful for focal burning and lighter is always easier to handle than heavier... and making it look larger or smaller is easily controlled by the distance from the background... Before special effects technology they made movies showing a person in the hand of a giant by simply having the giant very close and the small person at a distance and adjusting the camera angle.

What's with a crystal ball... just keep your sunglasses on while your adressing the camera; great effect!

Bought the 80 mm one, used it with manual focus for several days and returned it. I discovered the effects can also easily be achieved with the photo-editors that I use.

No!! She is the only person on the internet pronouncing it correctly. People are taking a Japanese word and pronouncing it phonetically the way see it fit. BOH KAY is far more closer then BOH-KAH.

Thanks for commenting. When we weren't holding it, it was on an upside-down yeti. Here's the link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LA7ABYG/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=stayposh-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B01LA7ABYG&linkId=f725ac71a265a6f60196885fe00def99

We also used a little wooden ring that came with the crystal ball. Most crystal balls have an option to order with a "stand" which I would recommend springing for. Here's some wooden rings I found that are similar to the exact one used in the video: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074797XWH/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=stayposh-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B074797XWH&linkId=af93c2e0ddd0df22ed9df8ceb566fe00

Can you maybe make a video of all the sizes of the balls? Glass, plastic etc.. I’ve been looking at pictures on amazon but they all look very similar

Thanks for watching! That's sort of what this video is. There is a small and big ball, each one made of a different material. I have put some recommendations below if you need a purchase recommendations.

I thought about getting one til i watched this video. How much can you really take upside down pics in a ball. Looks kinda boring now

You rotate the pictures my friend. The background orientation often does not matter much or at all.
