Crystal Beach TX - 6/20/2024 - BlueWater

Flight taken on June 20th 2024 over the Bluewater subdivisions (both Beach and Bay side). Flown by a FAA Certified and Insured Part 107 pilot at 8:30am. Water did rise a few more inches afterwards. This is a longer video, but I wanted to cover as much as I could.

Wow, that beach is completely gone, and this storm was so far away. I hate to see this place with a cat 5 and 2-3 ft of sea level rise

My in laws had a beach house on Chrystal Beach. In 83 the year Alicia hit. My husband and I stayed all summer at the Beach house. His Job had him working in Galveston. It was easier for us to be close. We were evacuated from Crystal Beach. As Alicia was coming in. I had the opportunity to go back in before anyone who did not own land or a business there could get on Galveston Island or the Crystal Beach Peninsula. National Guard were armed and guarding on the causeway the only way they let you pass is if you had papers proving you owned property there. The water came up the sandy roads you see coming from the main road through the neighborhood to the beach. We had to wade in knee high water to reach the beach house. This was a few days after the hurricane the water had already gone down. So no there is no beach when a storm comes in. Actually all those homes have the ocean under them during a hurricane.
