I would have used either cheese cloth or a fishing mesh to wrap the cut bait, It keeps bait stealers from pecking at it. Also, would have juiced it with some mullet scented gel.

Try it again out there I caught a shark out there those Reds are there, catch the bait fish out there that's what they biting on most of the time.. Crab work too...

Can confirm they’re good eating - just make sure to bleed them and remove blood lines and you’re left with some great filets. Usually stick to the 6-12 lb ones if keeping them.
