is it the reason people choose gateron black ink on idobao was to cover the backlit RGB?

Does the white lighting for the keys still appear after you've done the PE mod?

Yep! The PE foam is super thin. If anything, it acts more like a diffusion layer and distributes the light better

what plate foam are you using? KBD Fans or DIY?

hows the gasket implementation
@SolaireFlair2 жыл бұрын
Well mine was bad because it didn't include any and I had to make due with some leftover KBDFans gaskets, but from what I can tell, it's pretty whatever. The plate is still going to get sandwiched between the top and bottom case pieces with little to no room to move, so it's gasket mount in name alone. Very similar to the GMMK Pro. Not necessarily a bad thing, just don't expect a trampoline.

can you do a modding tutorial for this board?
@SolaireFlair2 жыл бұрын
I could if people want it that bad, but pretty much the only mods I did were Tape Mod, PE Foam Mod, and Holee mod on the stabs, all of which there are very good tutorials for already
@mastergun36023 жыл бұрын
Bro, how did you fix the gasket problem?
@SolaireFlair3 жыл бұрын
I had some KBDFans gaskets. They're pretty soft so they squished right down and held the plate in place. It doesn't really work like a gasket mount and feels stiff as all hell, but at least I was able to build the board

This is stunning. I'm new to the hobby, how much would this cost please?
@SolaireFlair3 жыл бұрын
To get this exact build, you're looking at a bit over $700, but I'll give you the price breakdown. ID80 Crystal - $300 Gateron Black Ink switches - $70 to $80ish depending on the vendor Durock V2 stabs - $25 GMK Blue Samurai base kit - $150 GMK Blue Samurai novelties - $80 GMK Blue Samurai Nishi - $90 You would save a loooooot of money by not ordering the novelties and Nishi alphas for the Blue Samurai set, that would shave nearly $200 off the price. I'm also not considering the price of lube, films, and other materials because it's likely you would just have them on hand from other builds as well.

@@SolaireFlair thank you, do you think the Idobao crystal is worth the extra compared to the latest Keychron (Q1 is it?) ?
@coffeemug61142 жыл бұрын
@@sgist7824 the q1 has much better gasket implementation and has the option to have a badge or rotary encoder. It's also much less muted

@@coffeemug6114 thank you, such a hard decision. I have a Gamakay 87 right now and want something more serious eventually, so planning now but I know I want a better sound.
@SolaireFlair2 жыл бұрын
@@sgist7824 yeah the Q1 is waaaaaay better, Idobao needs to fix the gasket implementation on the ID80 Crystal. It's very pretty to look at, but the gasket system is basically non-functional.
@realegt3 жыл бұрын
Great job. Why PE for case foam? It's damping properties are much less than reflection, which is how it creates the poppy sound when installed below the switches. Curious to hear your thoughts.
@SolaireFlair3 жыл бұрын
So I'm just used to having case foam in my builds and Idobao forgot to include any in my kit, so I subbed it in as case foam. Shoobs actually reacted to my build on stream and thought it sounded too muted, so I took the foam back out and it sounds better. Might record a new sound test at some point because it definitely has some more oomph to it without any case foam.
@slowtyper953 жыл бұрын
@@SolaireFlair so you can order case foam with this build? Seen a lot of video without it
@SolaireFlair2 жыл бұрын
@@slowtyper95 it's supposed to come with some from what I can tell, but mine didn't. Maybe Idobao started excluding it since most people build it without the case foam.

Do you have the plate wabble problem?
@SolaireFlair3 жыл бұрын
I did when there aren't any gasket strips installed, but the KBDFans gaskets keep it in place pretty stiffly, so there's definitely no wobble, there's just also no cushion like you would expect from a gasket board lmao
