I learned so many new techniques that are not commonly used by others: weld, decimate, bend, mean crease, checker deselect, contrast control and about a dozen others. Thanks soooo much. So unique and creative tutorial. I watched so many times and I don't even want to make a glass in particular.

Saw this video only by recommendations and I must say you're amazing, I like that you took a particular idea, created a simple series on it. Your technique is simple , and smart , your approach is even better. Subscribed with post notification on 🎉

The screen says you push "CTRL SPACE" to indent the pattern around the 2:07 minute mark, but that is not working. Can someone give detail about what he did there? Ok, update: I just pushed g and the direction (Y) and it worked that way.
@crow.3dАй бұрын
just holding the ctrl key while indenting a face with "i" and moving the mouse while you hold it will move the indentation inwards or outwards dependant on the mouse movement.

Great tutorial but Im stuck on bending after array. When attepting to bend in the 'X' axis, some of the vertices do not move, disfiguring the shape. Only the perimeter bends correctly, The vertices where the glass is cut do not move with the bend modifier. Thanks in advance if anyone knows a fix
@crow.3d10 ай бұрын
hm.. tough to debug without images. Let's see what we can do about it. - the simple deform modifier comes after the array and is set to twist? - if you change the axis to z instead of x and set the angle to 360°. Do you get a full cylinder? - the origin of your object might have moved which could cause issues like that. There is an instagram proflie linked in the description. You could send me a screenshot of your problem there and I can try to help.

@@crow.3d Thanks for replying so swiftly, when I try to bend 360 in the z axis, I get a flat disk. I will try to send photos soon, thanks again

I had the same problem, fixed it by applying the array modifier, then setting the origin to geometry and geometry to origin to make sure, and also applying all transforms to the plane.
@crow.3d10 ай бұрын
We talked a bit and the solution was to apply the rotation. If you rotate the plane in object mode instead of edit mode the deform axis won't work properly. Happy that you figured it out in your own. 🙂

Could I recommend not including any background music what-so-ever in tutorials? As someone with ADHD, I find it distracting to hear new music, and I shift my attention away from your teachings, which I honestly find very useful. Thank you
@crow.3d4 ай бұрын
Thank you for that suggestion. I have never thought about that and I will consider it for future videos. Would it help to put a link under a video to an unlisted version without music?
@rhyscooper36934 ай бұрын
@@crow.3d That would be great! I want to go through each tutorial in this series. I enjoy the music, it's just that I focus on it and find myself distracted by it. The mixing is fine, I can understand what you're saying and nothing is being blown out or too quiet. Some other people may also want to play their own music and having your own track inserted disrupts that. Hopefully KZbin allows selectable audio tracks in future (most likely for language selection purposes). You move through the steps with good pacing, which I respect because it is active and helps provides immediate feedback about where it's going, demonstrating rather than telling. Many other tutorials either skip steps or are excessive with explanations or a lack of editing. You produce good content, I would love to see more!

why just dont just use height map and make pattern :)
@crow.3d22 күн бұрын
A height map would need the same or even more polygons to achieve the same result. I think it would be possible to do with a height map but this tutorial is more about how to cleverly use modifiers and less about displacement.
