I remember buying the Crystalis remake when it was new back in 2000. About a week later, I went to Funcoland, bought a copy of the original NES cart, and then never touched this one again. That was a good choice.

Yeah, I hate this version of the game. I think it could've been a great port if the music was good and if the translation was better... *and* if they kept to the overall experience of the NES version with removing every "improvement".

Like Scott the Woz said in his video about the Game Boy Color, Nintendo certainly made some… interesting choices when it came to which games to publish during the GBC’s lifespan. _Quest for Camelot_ , _Bugs Bunny: Crazy Castle 3_ , _Beauty and the Beast: A Board Game Adventure_ , _The Little Mermaid II: Pinball Frenzy_ , and this.

Definitely a worse version, especially considering that it came out 10 years later. The only improvement is that you can kill anything with any sword, but other than that it just seems to be a visible step-down from the original in every way. Well, maybe also more backstory.

Hope you will use an EMULATOR of Gameboy color and use The Crystalis ROM to play the game to completion. Finding the Thunder bracelet was a fun mystery for me like finding the warrior Ring back 1995-97. Reading the text and try thing out. hope you get to play it again.

They ruined the field music track.. that's the only issue I had with this game (I bought it new when it came out on the GBC)

I have played this game on the Virtual Console on Nintendo Switch, I honestly thought the NES version was a great game, but this Game Boy Color one is by far one of the worst ports. Okay, it was an inferior console, but man, at least they could polish the details and not change the entire story, it was also a great nonsense to change part of the mechanics that the original game had. The NES version surpasses it by a lot in all aspects, perhaps the menu interface is one of the few things that can be saved that the Gameboy color version has and little else. It's really a shame that a game that has been remake ends in a bad job, no wonder the fans criticized this version and preferred the NES version, look, when I saw your video I thought "oh, it came out for this console, for sure they improved a lot of things" and no, it's pure garbage is what it is. Great video by the way.

With the shader, game looks FAR better then the NES version. Game could use a GOOD update, stick with the NES story and expand it, QoL things like automatically equipping the orb/bracelet/whatever each time you equip a sword, more levels with less grinding, expand the world some.

*_"Oh, cool! 'Crystali-'!"_* [Sees It's the GBC version] 😐 *_"oh..."_* Yeah, I don't like this version of *_"Crystalis"_* . The NES version has a fantastic soundtrack, excellent visuals, great character animation, a solid storyline (that got unsurprisingly botched and even censored in the American version), and it is one of *VERY* few old-school RPGs I can think of where different armor shows up on your main character. On GBC, the soundtrack is bland, the translation is even worse, every "improvement" feels more like a downgrade in quality from the NES, and the *SCREEN CRUNCH!!* I know that some have an affinity for this version. But, it is just a sloppy converted port in *_my_* eyes.
