I actually don't like the original at all, but THIS IS SOOOO AMAZING WHAT EVEN?! I CAN'T EVEN? It's like a completely different song?! The feeling of the original didn't match the theme of the lyrics, while this cover took the lyrics at the reins and added proper feeling into it. I've been listening to this 24/7.

Blobs ! You realize that people are more inclined to share a small, quick and funny video rather than a song with deep emotion or whatever the fuck, right? PPAP was a part of a TV show, if I'm not mistaken, so really, it was going to be seen by many anyway. But, people thought, "hey this is funny" so they shared it around and it became viral. This is music here, and not everyone likes Crywolf or the type of music he puts out. Music in the larger industry is put out by giant companies. Viral videos are spread by the people. The people decide what they want to go viral, so of course they're going to choose something more simple and silly, ergo, PPAP.
