CS4 Thermal Test! What's in store for you when you buy one!

In this episode we continue to torture my own CS4 and wring every ounce of the truth from this handy little compressor. The thermal data seems to indicate that the thermal management in these is actually pretty good. In my opinion, WAY smarter than a 5 gallon pail full of ice water, but that's just one man's opinion. I have to admit I was a little skeptical at first glance of the CS4 and the marketing hype, but this little unit now has almost 8 hours on it and it performs and works very well. If your in the market for a GOOD high pressure air solution that CAN be field portable, fill guns directly AND your lumbering Carbon Fiber bottles, this is a great choice. Hey Bill!! You NEVER CEASE TO AMAZE!!.... Another SUPER-INFORMATIVE VIDEO AS USUAL!! Looks like the GXCS4 could be a REAL WINNER, for the PCP Crowd!! (As a side-note, I was struck by just how you took such a simple photo 'shot' of the GXCS2, and made it so INTERESTING, with your slow-scan process!! WELL DONE, Senior!! My THANKS for ALL that you do to keep us SO WELL INFORMED,.. with the latest,...and some greatest,....technologies, with your WONDERFUL 'exploratory investigations' as to what goes on INSIDE THEM, and by fully examining all the superfluous 'hype' that is so common in advertisements these days. I just received my CS4. I'm just getting into this hobby. I bought a Huben K1 .25. it takes 3 minutes to fill it from 1000 PSI to 5000 PSI.

Jason sounds exactly like a regular salesman who got thrown into some thing that he knows nothing about promises things that do not exist, and has no idea about the product that he’s actually selling. Excellent as always! I typically fill a 9L tank from 225 bar to 300bar, and occasionally a 450cc tank on my gun. Since this compressor doesn't seem to get hot real fast like the Yong Hengs, i wonder how it would last doing just this? I sue can't get the YH's to last very long, no matter what i do for extra cooling and short run times. I truly believe we would have a much larger airgun community if we could solve the good/reasonably priced compressor issue.

I bought this specifically to fill a 3L gurlleu carbon fiber 300 bar tank. Compared to other compressors, I'm pretty sure this will do the job. Since the tank isn't DOT, not sure a dive shop will fill it. Fingers crossed

Excellent data! I just realizei you might have practically reached stasis though. The temperature of the equipment went up about 20 degrees from about 40 minutes until the pumping ended. However, the ambient temperature went up, say, 18 degrees if I understood correctly. If you reduce the final temperature by 18 degrees you would get a pretty horizontal line on that graph. In other words, correct for ambient temperature. What do you think? Make sense?

Have the same compressor and my temps are not even close to yours, my water temp always settles in at about 140-144

Interesting, Differences in measurement method and ambient air temp can create a delta in values. What was your ambient? How are you measuring the temp? How high was your fill pressure?

@@TargetForge ambient temp was around 75 degrees, using a probe directly in the coolant. Temperature definitely climbs slower at lower pressures as I filled a large bottle from zero to 4500 PSI. Even lower pressures made it to 140 F after 20 minutes or so. I’d only run it for about an hour at a time to allow it to cool off. I have 9 and a half hours on the machine and it’s ran great. Just worried its getting to hot.

YATZEE! We have our answer! RV antifreeze is not very good at moving heat through a system. Not a wise choice for a cooling system. Try your test again with water and let us know what your measurements are.
