I was quite surprised when the instructor ignored the first verse which gives the context of "Who" … In context "Who" was the letter written too? it was not written to Gentiles but exclusively to the "Twelve Tribes scattered Abroad".. That's important because the instructions given by James are exclusively to the Jews. this was the mistake Martin Luther made that lead to him calling it a straw book..

Using the bible to confirm the bible is not circular reasoning. The bible itself is 66 books by 40 different authors. Only using the same author to validate the Author's intent would be circular.
