Yeah you saved my C5 hinges in the nick of time with the first video that did on this. My passenger door, which hardly every gets used was starting to lock up. I had to use Kano Aero Kroil (in the orange can) and keep gently working the door back and fourth until it started rolling again. Then I was able to lube it properly. So BIG THANK YOU to Lyle and everyone at C&S Corvettes for all these videos with tips and tricks and preventive maintenance knowledge.

content like this is why I consider Lyle my video corvette buddy. I would hate to rip the door hinges off of my C5, but as soon as he mentioned dust as an issue, I knew the pressure can white grease I had been using was a poor, if somewhat traditional, choice. By the way, if you have a suitable lubricant. door locks and any other lock can usually benefit from lubrication , because they are often lubrication neglected .

You always have great information to pass along to us, thank you. Oh, I have a brick from that first Corvette plant in Flint, Michigan. I won it for for being first to answer a trivia question at a Corvette show. It came with a certificate of authenticity. Did you know all 300 for those first year 1953 Corvettes came in white exteriors with red interiors and John Wayne was one of the first to receive one of them? Thanks again for taking time to give us informative useful tips on our Corvettes Sir.

Yes, sir! Most people think that the classic Corvette Combo is Red with back interior, but the "Real OG" as the kids say is the White with the red gut. Thank you for watching!!

Hi Lyle. I have a C2 with dried out white lithium. Cleaned it all out. I like a product called " fluid film". Sprays on transparent with good adhesion. If the readers want to clean up their hinges. Take a big piece of cardboard to the car wash. The card board will prevent your interior from getting soaked. pressure wash those hinges. Squeaky clean. Dry and apply your favorite lube

I have found the Amsoil MP (HD) works great for the hinges. MP stands for metal protector. It comes in a spray can with a tube and dries to a waxy like film that stays put. It contains rust and corrosion inhibitors as well.

Excelent video Lyle , one question sr. this lubricant can be used on the hood hinges and trunk door hinges ? for the C6 ? thanks !!
@csvette11 ай бұрын
Absolutely! Any hinge on the car can benefit from lubrication, and products like the one featured stick around for a long while and don't attract grit and dirt. Lyle :)

Is the C5 Coup Gas Smell resolution that much different than what you showed for the C6?
@csvette9 ай бұрын
The C5 gas smell is usually related to a defective gas vapor purge solenoid...rarely, if ever, the tank sending unit. Lyle

What about WD Silicone spray to lube hinges??

My fear of that product gathering grit and dirt over time makes it less attractive to me. If you have had good luck with it and it hasn't gotten funky, by all means continue using it! Some lubrication is ALWAYS better than NO lubrication! Lyle :)

I have a 92 Corvette LT1 the problem I'm having is that my car wants start . I don't fire from the coil , I have checked all of the relay that would cause the engine to not start and I had the ecm checked and it is good . I was told that the opti spark distributor is the problem . I replaced the distributor and I still have the same problem. Do you think I purchased a bad distributor. Please help me if you can. Thank you,
@csvette11 ай бұрын
I can't diagnose that online, unfortunately. It is possible that your optispark is defective. I am assuming that you have triple checked all connectors to make sure nothing is amiss? Lyle
