Temporary storage of undigested food is the whole responsibility of the rectum. However, if you are thinking C, the colon does do some absorption though significantly less than the small intestines (especially if the food is moving quickly through the system. So, it really comes down to how you read the question, in one context C may be correct. But for now, we will go with D since storage is more absurd.
