The early 80's had a lot of country songs cross over to the Hot 100

I could take those 100 songs and be satisfied for the rest of my existence.

Wish I could say the same, but I like a few that missed the list... Huey Lewis & The News, "Workin'For A Livin'", "Is It Me" Don Henley, "Dirty Laundry", "Johnny Can't Read" Phil Collins, "I Cannot Believe It's True", "Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away" Glenn Frey, "The One You Love", "Partytown" Journey, "Only Solutions", "Keep On Runnin'" Police, "Spirits In The Material World", "Demolition Man" Heart, "This Man Is Mine", "Bright Light Girl"

@@DrJekyll38 Don Henley's Dirty Laundry is on the 1983 year end list at #48. It was released as a single in mid October 1982 but it was not popular and charting high on the Hot 100 until early 1983.

And part of the reason you had longer stays at #1 was the fact that music sales were in a pretty bad slump in 1982 and since sales were part of the chart it resulted in longer stays in chart positions.
