That is a valid point, given that they will win the upcoming matches . 😊 Also, Cheeka is saying that CSK is sitting pretty because of the remaining matches and the opponents. I can say One thing if CSK wins the title this year, there are two good things. 1) Dhoni finishing his career with a title at Chepauk. What a scene to watch.❤ 2) Rutu proving as a Captain. Probably might be the future Captain for India in limited overs. Rohit might probably retire after the t20wc. These are my assumptions. BCCI already had Rutu as a Captaincy material and if Rutu proves it with a title. He might lead in the future.❤

Ruthu ate too many balls to get from 90 to 98 at a crucial point of the innings. Clearly he was injured and out of gas by the 18th over and couldn't generate power. He should have just retired hurt and given dhoni an extra 5 or 6 balls to play. 225-230 was there for the taking. Zero boundaries in the 19th over by unadkat and still getting past 210 shows that. I think playing for personal milestones like 50s and 100s and giving batsmen the grace balls needed to reach those milestones when they are in their 40s/90s without putting their wicket at risk is an antiquated concept when it comes to t20 cricket. Every run matters and we can't afford to play balls without boundary intent in the death. To his credit, ruthu is a true captain and he didn't slow down for his 100. Even when he got out it was trying to hit the big shot. He was just hurt and out of gas.

@krishnamahajan1207 the heat was probably a factor for him showing down as well in addition to the injury to his hand. I agree that set, healthy, top-order batsmen close to a century milestone, retiring hurt due to exhaustion to facilitate sloggers after the 16th over is not currently needed or an expected practice in t20 cricket. I can envision a future of t20 cricket though where such retirements in favour of accelerating are a common practice. I'm mostly musing about that

He was just hurt and out of gas." Not criticizing his intent. I love ruthu. He gave us 98 runs yesterday. I just think he was limited later in his innings and it may have been in both his and the teams best interest for him to retire at 90 and let dhoni and dube whack the last 12 balls. Not sure ruthu should've taken the field either where he did seem to get hurt stopping a shot inside the circle. Sometimes it's important to protect certain players from themselves
