CSM how-to: Lubricating my ribber assembly

UPDATE PLEASE NOTE: I installed the washer INCORRECTLY and it should go in between the ribber dial and the tappet plate!

It's been a while since I lubed up my ribber assembly. I use petroleum jelly, paper towels and a qtip or two to clean then re-lube.
There is a weird groove in my tappet plate that is doubtless from something getting jammed and me trying to force it through. Be nice to your ribbers people. I may have to replace someday but for now it works just fine.
Please note that lubing the grooves in the tappet plate isn't part of the recommended procedure from the erlbacher knitting company. I do it because of a bad jam I got a month ago and I want to make sure the ribber needles slide through there smoothly so it doesn't happen again. YMMV.

I only got my ribber this past January and it jams constantly. I have the same kind of small groove (damage) under the tappet plate too. The ribber is brand new though and has barely been used because it jams so much. I wonder if it will work better if I try lubing it?

I wanted to come back here to comment that using petroleum jelly on my ribber completely solved my issues. I was able to knit perfect ribbing on my first try after using the jelly on the tappet plate! Thank you for posting this video. It saved me!

Doesn’t the washer go between the ribber and tappet?

KIM! You are CORRECT! According to this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5LSp4ajmZt1aM0 You are correct, the washer needs to go between the ribber dial and the tappet. I shoudl let them know the manual is incorrect now. I guess that was the way with the old ribber. Thanks for pointing this out.
