@SamuelBlack84 The only voice I heard was the assistant manager who came back because I set off the burglar alarm! And no, I didn't get in trouble. He mostly asked if I was OK. Then when the patrol car drove up because my dad called 911 we just told the police what happened.

The part when she's trying to return the ring, and sees the sales lady with her back turned, and she yells over to her. "Miss!" "Miss!" And someone turns the sales lady around and she's a mannequin, freaked me the hell out when I was a kid. That zoom close up the camera does to the mannequin's face, and that zoom close up to the main character lady's face, scared me to death! I use to sometimes watch The Twilight Zone at home in the dark by myself in the whole house as a kid. You can't imagine how scary it was as a kid to have to turn out all the lights in a large house, before I go to bed, and go to sleep, after watching The Twilight Zone late at night. My heart is racing just recalling it now.

Maybe it was because she ended up with a fiancé, that she forgot she was a mannequin, she could've been having such a great time, that she didn't wanted to go back. And perhaps this driving need to purchase, "The Thimble", was some kind of fail safe, a pre-programmed subconscious command, forcing her to return to the store.
@basilmarasco19753 жыл бұрын
That's actually a pretty good explanation, especially the part about being destined to return to the store.
@Nicole-em9yo Жыл бұрын
According to TV tropes, there’s a rather sad explanation in the script for the thimble. Marsha was taken in by a kind, old woman who died of an infection after pricking her finger on a sewing needle. Because Marsha doesn’t understand the concept of death, she bought her a thimble as a solution.
@SamuelBlack848 ай бұрын

@joansmith60925 жыл бұрын
Maybe your niece saw it the way I used to see it, when I was a kid. I didn't understand the ending in the 1960s, I thought the other mannequins forced Marsha to be a mannequin, and she's stuck in that unmovable body, FOREVER!

The episode Deaths-Head Revisited rings true today the closing quote was They must remain standing because they are a monument to a moment in time when some men decided to turn the Earth into a graveyard. Into it they shoveled all of their reason, their logic, their knowledge, but worst of all, their conscience. It was about a former Nazi soldier who was haunted by ghost in a concentration camp. The reason I put it rings true today is because of people wanting to remove things because it might offend someone.

As much as I love this episode, there are some interesting plot holes. How does a woman with no identity get a job and a place to live for a month? (Though perhaps they are given an identity on their way out.) Later in the episode she says the thimble is for her mother, who was the woman she thought was her mother? ((Maybe the display designer for the store?)
@Kasey_8885 жыл бұрын
They are given a "story" before they go about living their lives for a short period of time. Its an analogy for human beings not remembering who they are and where they came from. And how until the very end we fight to hold onto an idea of who we *think we are. No plot holes at all...
@terencebuie74635 жыл бұрын
And that's how tv and movies carry on with stuff missing and not figure out you add to the plot but back than there wasn't a team of writers too often. Rod could made part.two This or turned it to a seperate movie. I would remake it or continued it

@@Kasey_888 It's so interesting how people read this episode. There's no consistent themes that locks an interpretation. For me, it's about the lives of people you pass on the street, a world full of faces that we know nothing about.

She knows Marsha would not be able to process the truth at that point in time and decides to let fate play its hand. Clever writing. For me, the flip side of this haunting, creepy scenario is that all of the mannequins are quite nice and not a one of them at all creepy. Too bad we humans cannot follow suit.
