PA) Eastbound manifest freight train first passing Delaware Park Race Track/Casino (BAK32.5) and working Wilsmere Yard passing by Elsmere Junction (BAK27.0) in Wilmington, Delaware on the CSX Philadelphia Subdivision on 8/11/2024.
Lead engine was the CSXT 1897 (GE ES44AH) MONON HERITAGE UNIT attached to the CSXT 3224 (GE ES44AH) then the CSXT 3278 (GE ET44AH) and followed by the CSXT 8040 (EMD SD40-2 Ex-SBD 8040, Ex-SCL 8040) pulling assorted freight cars with a total axle count of 492. The later part of the video was when they were working CSX Wilsmere Yard in Wilmington, Delaware before terminating in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Monon Railroad, also known as the Chicago, Indianapolis, and Louisville Railway from 1897 to 1971, was an American railroad that operated almost entirely within the state of Indiana. The Monon was merged into the Louisville and Nashville Railroad in 1971, and much of the former Monon right of way is owned today by CSX Transportation. ~@MailmanRailfan
