Thank God for rail fans from the past. How else could we see old steam and diesel locomotives? Great job.

Good stuff, Mr. K. Just had my harddrive crash with all my 90s footage. All lost. Glad I kept the VHS tapes to start the process all over again.

Oh my Chad!!! That is my worst nightmare. I have 2 backups. Both on 1TB Western Digital HD's. But from what I understand, they will even crash. I just got a Sandisk 1TB SSD, Solid State Drive, that is about as safe as you can get, and even drop proof. Put everything on there as well. So now I have 3 backups. Don't want to take the chance of losing everything. Glad you still have the originals. But VHS tapes deteriorate in time as well. So get them changed.

@@1jackdk That'll be my winter project. My external hd was the victim of a drop during moving. It did not care for that none too much!

I remember Chessie had Detectors like that on the Akron Chicago mainline. Instead of the safety slogan at the end there was a short beep. Chessie crews were also the first I heard that called the signal indications over the radio.

Yes, signal calling actually started on the what was once called the “western sub” which was the trackage between broadford pa and versailles pa. ( old cp 17y ) . I remember the officers with superintendent Dave Daniels implementing the new directive standing along the right-of-way at jacobs creek signal…it was from the result of the east coast 96 rear ending the Baltimorian with an occupied caboose, flagman and conductor survived the impact at broadford pa. ms….

Great film, thank you for sharing. They had some very polite track recorders back in the day. More information too. Some great locations, and wonderful scenery.
