Heavy haul, mountain railroading is the order of the day in this video featuring drone and ground footage. The CSX KD and Corbin Terminal Subdivisions are busy thoroughfares for the company's eastern Kentucky coal and Cincinnati-Atlanta run-through traffic.
We'll start on Lake City Hill in Tennessee, where a combination power move/tie train has been rescued by the Morley helper after stalling on the grade. From there, we'll follow the train north into "the gorge," where the KD Sub winds through the mountains while paralleling Clear Fork. Two more northbounds follow the power move, and they lead us to Corbin, KY, where we find a surprisingly busy CV Subdivision with two loaded coal trains out of Loyall, KY. After catching southbound Q541, we survey the yard and shops with the drone before heading for home.
Plenty of classic CSX power, signals, and coal traffic can be found among the beautiful scenery of eastern Tennessee and Kentucky in this latest video from S-Line Productions.
