WILDWOOD YARD, S761.0 - my mother, aunt and I came to Leesburg at Lake-Sumter State College to present her business and her curriculum at a teachers workshop and to sell product. While she and my aunt wanted to go back to the hotel afterwards to take a nap before driving home, I hit the tracks. Danny Harmon posted in Florida Railfans that he was traveling north after visiting Lachoochee an hour before so I hoped I didn’t miss him. I pulled into Wildwood Yard and we greeted each, chatted and hoped for a train.
The Wildwood signal on the south end of the yard showed an approach which later went to clear. I watch Distant Signal get set up as the 556 axle train made its way towards us. Around the bend at Moreland Park and under US301 was M453 with CSX709 leading (ES44AH) and CSX549 (AC44CW) as DPU. A nice solid train of manifest, grain hoppers and autoracks heading south to work Winston, possibly Okeechobee, Palm Center and have only 1800 feet for Miami.
