I have two of these in a .75cuft box with a jp800 and man I’m impressed how good they sound and yup they like to play low can’t wait to get a bigger amp on them. People never believe they are two 6.5s

Thanks....thats what im looking for. So im thinking around .40 per sub to keep it punchy but still be able to extend for a 6.5" subwoofer.I find the higher tunings 40-45 in a truck is a bit to loud and limits a variety of genres....I listen to everything so I generally go between the recommendations a manufactures suggest. Companies like JL Audio are very specific on their box sizes and ports.....zero wiggle room and honestly they nail it. Very high quality bass.

Can these subs really handle 400 watts each? I have 4 toro 6.5’s in a down4 sound box. They are impressive but, I’d like a little more output.

Box is big. But u will loose little of the lows it hit in right size box. Anytime you go bigger than manufacturer size woofer will play more flat SQ bass. Audio file

I have installed the Tropo 6.5 x4 in a ported box made to CT Specs and it sounded very punchy (42) tuning ...it was lacking a bit in the low end but those took great power and for the $$$ I thought they were a great deal.

@dcaudio1 manufacturer specs are usually on the safe side. Minimum requirements. This box was .63 Nd it was way too big. It needs to be smaller. Those tropo like that bigger .6 space tho.

🤦‍♂️ not in my truck anymore and listening on headphones.. can’t tell how they are doing compared to the tropos which sounded great.. mesos do like smaller boxes.. much like dc subs do.. they will get a lot more musical in a smaller box.. you’ll lose a little of that bottom end though. The trick with 6.5’s and 8’s is to slightly upsize the box just a little so you don’t lose the punch.. then tune the box lower. At least if you want to keep the punch and responsiveness wo sacrificing the low end of the subs.. you could prob innhonesty drop almost a full cube on that box then tune it down to 30-31 (idk what your specs are tbh.. just guessing by the size of the box compared to the subs.. I would think you got a tune prob around 37-40 which is common for 6.5’s.. The over all box will be about the same size lol.. but it will play up top and down low better
