CT110 Resurrection - Compression Test (I cocked up)

I recently made a video going through comp testing. Short version. Hot or cold makes very little difference. Carbie slide down, gives a very low false reading. All the best.

Hi Jeff, I have a 1985 CT that I bought as a non runner from a garage sale. Comp test on mine is 125psi, with oil in the cyl 170psi which I believe is what it should be. Comp test should be done with a hot engine. You opened the choke but without a throttle cable did you lift the slide in the carbie? I had a battle with the 6v electrics on my bike, every globe was blown. Fixed with new battery, new regulator/rectifier, new flasher relay & of course every globe. And lots of new grey hairs. My bike ran OK with 125psi but down on power. Did 15,000km on it & finally done a top end overhaul. Waiting for the new piston in the post.

@@Jeff4fun I'm not sure how much difference having the throttle closed makes. Could be a lot or not much, I don't know. Old Ct's seem to be going for ridiculously high prices now, you're lucky to have two! All the best with the bikes.

I have an 81 I’ve went through it and I’ve had it started and heard it run but it sure don’t want to start I think I have a problem with the points and timing. I just need to find a local guy that knows what he’s doing I guess

Maybe a carb. issue if you have trouble idling or keeping it going. My carbie was stuffed so replaced from another one from a postie that I bought in bits. You could try cleaning the carb, filter & fuel tap. My CT doesn't have points. Electronic ignition unit. Hope you get it sorted. Postie bikes are great fun. Cheers Jeff
